The fallacy of that kind of "traditional strict" parenting is expecting that kids read between the lines that rules are about teasing you to break the rules. You can't take the rules seriously.
Reminds me of how my parents always got weird about me spending time alone with girls, heading around hanging out with anyone who was rumored to drink, told me to avert my eyes from girls, got nosey about me going to parties, then got weirdly "supportive" about trying to set me up with someone, go out to the bars, host parties, hit up female athletic events to check out girls, ask for random women's phone numbers if they thought they were looking at me.Â
After my mom pressured me to go to a singles event at a church I decided it was time to move out of town, start over with some friends, put the work in.Â
