Do you have scandal stories with the healthcare system in your country?

My mother works in the national hospital in Albania in the oncology departament. Here the healthcare is supposed free but reality is another . My mother refuses to play by the system of treating the patient as a client of a private firm and gets bullied for it. Her colleagues though are very cruel and dont touch you if you dont pay them what they want even if they have cancer and are clearly suffering. The whole medical system is so corrupt that even the medicine is often past best by date and sold for high prices . My mother works in the oncology department where everyone that goes there clearly has a life death matter in hand and are desperate and often come from the most poverty striken regions and dont have enough money to buy medicine let alone pay the doctors . Do you have similiar stories in your country? Whats the state of healthcare where youre from?

In Turkey there was a gang that killed babies to make a buck. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c62j595g0z0o
Responsible_Trick466@reddit (OP)
Oh god, did they sell organs ?
Commercial_Law_1689@reddit
Nah they were doctors/caregivers/emergency line operators who transferred infants/newborns into shitty private hospitals under bogus diagnoses to extort as much money as possible from parents/public healthcare system. As far as we know 10 infants died due to their actions.

Biggest mistake we made was switch to capitalism and lose funding for social services

Yes, sadly I’ve had personal experience with the amazing Romanian healthcare system… The thing is, if you have money and are willing to pay the doctors or nurses, you can basically “unlock” premium care. Honestly, I’d rather avoid going to the hospital altogether.
Otherwise_Release306@reddit
I'm at a public Romanian hospital right now, gave birth 4 days ago and the conditions have been amazing. Staff = awesome without any bribes. In fact, all hospitals in my area that me and my family have been admitted into the last 2 years have amazing staff BUT the waiting time in ER rooms is huge.
Responsible_Trick466@reddit (OP)
Well, people only go to hospital if very neccesary. And fir our generation cancer rates have become much higher. I think its worthy to give some money to recieve service as to go through pain and watch yourself die
Accomplished-Doubt99@reddit
Yeah, that’s right, sadly…
I am convinced it’s because of the Chernobyl incident and I will die on this hill.

And loads of pesticides

In Bulgaria when you go to a hospital you might get treated (on paper) for something entirely different, so that the hospital can get more money from the state. For example I read yesterday a case where a woman went for a routine procedure involving some tests at a hospital, and they wanted to make her sign papers that they are taking her eyeball out. It’s not a scandal though per sè as everyone knows about it and not much changes, no one gets punished. They did make a website where you could log in and view all your medical history, though older people won’t bother to check.

Kudos to your mom ❤️
Responsible_Trick466@reddit (OP)
Thanx but she never suggested me to go for medicine myself
UniqueCatalogue@reddit
Nurses and doctors were killing patients and keeping scores.
Responsible_Trick466@reddit (OP)
Omg, thats actually crazy

What a horrible thing, demonism is apparently true
UniqueCatalogue@reddit
Indeed some people act like vessels for demon to roam the Earth
Responsible_Trick466@reddit (OP)
I saw a tic toc video of this nurse in the us that she told that in her 20 years of service in the hospizals she has felt the presence of demons. One nurse was even open about her work as a witch and had even a handbag with symbols of witchcraftery. My mom confirmed me this that basically her work as a nurse has strengthened her faith even more in a god amd that also satan and his demons roam among us and that basically he gives people who play his game the throne of power and influence .
UniqueCatalogue@reddit
Well, yes. From what I know Satan rules the Earth. This is why you have a bad life when you try to be good. He attacks you. Our reward is in heaven, not here
Responsible_Trick466@reddit (OP)
Yeah for sure, the filthiest people i know sadly are also doctors by profession. They seem to have a god like complex
UniqueCatalogue@reddit
I also know some doctors like this. I can understand that they know stuff in regards of medicine, but this doesn’t give you the right to act like a jerk. Sadly in ex comunist countries they were treated like rock stars between 50’-00’. All the bribes to cut the long lines inflated their ego
Responsible_Trick466@reddit (OP)
We even had our ex prime minister who has an ex cardiologist but a total monster of a person
UniqueCatalogue@reddit
Barisha? Indeed he looks like evil Hugh Hefner😂
Responsible_Trick466@reddit (OP)
Yeah, hes devil himself im convinced about it. The tall guy we have now is another kind of devil and on drugs also.
UniqueCatalogue@reddit
Yess, strange man. Even Speed didn’t wash his image.
Responsible_Trick466@reddit (OP)
Hes much worse than it seems. Literally has no conscience.
UniqueCatalogue@reddit
He is old, maybe you will be free from him soon
Responsible_Trick466@reddit (OP)
These guys seem to have good health even past 80 tho and the guy to follow him is young but even worst of a jerk

I saw another romanian comment. It is true. At a hospital in the capital city the patients who were in a bad state were given small dosages of medicine (the doctors decision), so they could die fast. They had many dead people there. Some of the nurses were going back to the right tratment, when those lady doctors were not around. Those b*tches (the doctors) are psychopaths. Another case was of a cardiologist who was putting second hand stents in patients, meaning he was taking stents from dead patients and put them in other people who were paying for them like they were new. It was an entire network (I don't know how it ended, I think there was no conviction). Another scandal was about the disinfectants used in hospitals, apparently they were sold diluted, and therefore inefficient.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_diluted_disinfectants_crisis_in_Romania
Another scandal was about the privileged people (celebrities, rich people) who were profiting of their status and got faster acces to (kidney) transplants. There is bribery in the hospitals, but I think now it happens less (there are cameras, also many doctors were caught in sting operations and they don't think it is worthy to lose their reputation).

Imagine in albania we have the pharma mafia that basically import pharmaceuticals past due date from Bulgaria and resell them in Albania as safe to use. People pay full price for something inefective. These guys have gotten filthy rich with their ways. Imagine who didnt habe money just died . Apparently were in the age of commercial Darwinism despite how much technology has advanced
sudonimic@reddit
Yeah, lots of corruption in Serbia as well, primarily it comes down to people paying to jump ahead on waiting lists. But the bigger problem here is that all the good doctors emigrated, leaving a lot of bad ones who sometimes kill people during routine procedures. Also, I do have to mention that the oncology institute in Novi Sad is excellent, a relative of mine unfortunately had to go there, everything worked smooth, no bribe needed.
Responsible_Trick466@reddit (OP)
Oncology is a very important department tho so great for you guys. Here the chemo doctors destroyed the radiation device intentionally and its been out pf use fpr some time now , only for the patients to go to private clinics
Frank_cat@reddit
This is heart breaking!
Give a hug to your mother from me (a stranger on the net).
She has a good soul.
Humanity needs more people like her.
Responsible_Trick466@reddit (OP)
Well, she truly does her job from the heart and cares for the people suffering. She even threatened the chief of the oncology department that shed get revenge for the patients if she could. Even though my mom was a nurse and her boss the main oncology chief she still feared my mom . Thing is this woman would only support other evil people like herself that would do everything for money. And in Albania she has political power and also her husband is a doctor.

In Croatia health insurance is mandatory and is paid as a percentage of salary. I pay every month an amount which is same as some people in western countries pay for superior insurances.
At primary level it is okay, I can be seen by GP every time I need. It is walk in base so in worst case scenario an hour of waiting.
But everything beyond that. Thank God that me and everyone in my family are healthy.
Expect from some basic blood test, everything is months of waiting up to year and a half.
Of course alongside some major corruption there is a lot of minor corruption. I pay a decent sum every month and have to wait lets say six months for appointment. While someone unemployed who pays 0 and is a friend of a friend of a friend of a nurse in clinic goes next week. Also when I wait 6 months and the date and time of appointment comes, I have to wait few hours on top of that for my turn to come due to “urgencies aka relatives and Neighbours and friends and friends of a friends etc. of staff”. I am okay with social health care but let us both wait 3 month and not someone waiting 6 months and someone going next week”.
If something is really urgent or concerning I must go to private clinic and pay everything out of pocket on top of mandatory health insurance charges. Also we do not have real private hospitals, mainly some tests, screenings, consultations and some Minor procedures. Nothing big or an emergency.
Responsible_Trick466@reddit (OP)
Yeah, god forbid someone gets cancer . With the food we eat and stress and all were very likely to end up there at some point in our lifes
Tableforoneperson@reddit
I am afraid of Hospital.
Food is decent but there is no coffee. And toilette is often shared between rooms. And there is no air condition often. And there are more people in room so you need to talk.
Some wards maybe have one or two rooms with private bathroom but you need to pay extra which is fine but sometimes those rooms get friends/relatives/etc of staff for free.
Responsible_Trick466@reddit (OP)
Now imagine the psych ward
Tableforoneperson@reddit
Actually it has nice garden. Patients do it as a part of therapy.
Ok_Win8049@reddit
Same thing occurring in Serbia. As far as individual scandals are concerned, we had patients die during routine procedures for no good reason. Some hospitals outside of major urban centers are dubbed slaughterhouses. Bribery is too rampant, though there is one amusing story: A doctor in Belgrade, instead of getting a couple hundred euros, when he opened an envelope there was just a bullet.
Responsible_Trick466@reddit (OP)
Sadly now medicine is all about being commercial poor the people that dont have mkney to spend for their health cause free healthcare is jist a myth
