I mean it is part of the equation, alongside pesticides. The way the weather flips between freezing and hot during the late winter can cause insects to start coming out then killed off by sudden freezing weather.

My garden is FULL of bees. You can hear them buzzing around from miles away. I've photographed a good few on all sorts of plants, but I have planted and grown specifically for wildlife as a whole. I leave lots of self sewders and plants widely regarded as weeds and the bees love them. Thank you! I had mining bees in the lawn earlier in the year and have seen many different types all over. The plants I've seen that they seem to LOVE that I've currently got flowering (or have flowered already) are wild radish, rocket, alliums, dandelions, senetti, bugloss, dog rose and foxgloves, but once more opens like the nasturtiums, there'll be more. I also plant nasturtiums every year specifically for cabbage white butterflies to have as a food source for the caterpillars. I'm always amazed to just sit and watch and see what's muddling around in the garden, I love all the insects and birds, etc.

Ouch, hope you're ok. I found out bumblebees can sting more than once while cycling... one flew straight into my jersey and stung me three times

I had a trip to a&e when I got home as my chest and throat felt tight, was given some antihistamines which helped. Around 20 years ago I had a wasp go down the back of my top when cycling and it stung me over 20 times before I got the top off.

Hard to tell. Where I live, there's an active thing going on where town and university leave areas in town untouched specifically for insects and animals and there's plenty of wild flowers wherever you go in town which automatically attract bees making it seem like there's more than there used to be.

Just rescued one with some sugar water after a particularly windy night. Poor things end up flung out to sea and land back ashore in a sorry state. Got this one back at it though. :) And yeah, I’ve seen more this year too.

It's the opposite with me in the North East, last year I didn't mow my lawn or trim the hedges because of all the bees, there were loads. I thought I'd leave them to it and enjoy themselves and then do it when the numbers drop. This year, no bees, at all. I don't know where they went. But I suspect they went to your house this year. Please say hello to them for me, I miss them.
