RTV or no RTV

Bought this 1982 C10 in January that's had a slow transmission leak and I'm finally getting around to fixing it. Previous owner swapped in a 700R4 that hasn't had any other problems other than the leak. Dropping the pan was a pain so the age old question. RTV or no?
Gasket: GMÂ GENUINE 8654799
Not done cleaning it and replacing the filter while it's down. Thanks in advance.

Rtv is a big no no on transmissions, way too many small critical passages and in some cases hot atf can degrade the rtv and send bits of it through the trans.

I'm a SKIM coat of RTV on the Pan-side personally.
But you can also go in dry.

This. Gasket only. Torque the bolts to 120 in*lb and it will be fine.
