Hey yall, I have been obsessed with Thunderbirds ever since I was a little kid. The grille just hits like nothing else. I am on the younger side; I just got an actually reliable daily. So now I have the time and money for a project. I'm thinking an intense Resto-mod, and I'm looking for advice from those who have walked this path before. The images attached are AI generated, but only so i could get a good visualization of my vision, and be able to share it. Thanks!

I saw one of these on the freeway yesterday, but the back half was an Excalibur Phaeton. Or similar, I don’t know. It also might’ve been thunderbird in the back and Phaeton in the front, hell if I can recall. Anyway, that’s my story.

Rather flickering interior! Quite easy to be distracted from the road ahead...

I love the interior. The interior of a lot of old cars just looks so stylish. I can't see needing anything other than my phone screen on a windshield mount anyway. I don't need a 50 inch long screen on my dashboard and I hate the idea of having to shift with a screen, or turn on heat, or wipers, etc

I was at the pick-n-pull one day and there was a mid-70s Continental with a banana yellow and brown leather interior that was in pretty good shape. It was stunning. I just sat in it for a while and thought, I could live in here”.
I didn’t have the room to take it with me or the room to store it and it makes me sad knowing that in all likelihood, that magnificent palace of disco era decadence ended up in the crusher. It would have at least made a great pair of sofas.

they had some plush seats

Since when are project cars about practicality?
MyMotorStory_app@reddit
It is rather exaggeration, to point out how bright it might be, rather than moaning about practicality ..

My grandfather was a Mercury man and had a string of big Mercury sedans and PLCs from the 1960s through late ‘70s. My older brothers got to ride in them all but I only vaguely remember his last big sedan and then my grandmothers 1978 Cougar which I do remember riding around in and actually got to drive once before she traded it in for a much less magnificent, if not more efficient, ‘89 Sable. It was like piloting a green leather sofa on wheels that was floating on a cloud.
I’ve got big soft spot for ‘70s land yachts and especially the Fords.

Is that the same chassis as the Lincoln Continental of that era?
Some_Conference2091@reddit
Check into local clubs to. There are probably groups dedicated to Thunderbird, and others for all antique Fords.
