How much is Ferrari tesstarossa Fiero kit car worth?
Posted by chamoisjuice@reddit | projectcar | View on Reddit | 87 comments
Was looking market place for new project toy car looking miatas s2000 occasional suby or civic teg
Came across this thing. Would be pretty sick w k swap n turbo
Been messaging seller and he says he’s getting blown up with interest. I don’t even know how to value on fiero that hasn’t run in 10 years w clean paint nicely done Ferrari kit
What you think this pile is worth?
I prolly should do something bout suspension research on swap in fiero im sure its been done
_plays_in_traffic_@reddit
not as much as you think. a clean well kept stock fiero is probably worth exponentially more. just about every one of these kits that ive seen the installed end result of it was a hack job. you know the type, good from far but far from good.
bigtony8978@reddit
Scrap
Nicename19@reddit
I'll pay you $500 to burn it
extreme-vortex-10000@reddit
More than you can afford buddy
thickanvil69@reddit
Coolest guy at the trailer park. Make sure you see the real potential. Just show up with Newports and rack
ajm91730@reddit
This is actually one of the better fiero kits I've seen, though that bar is very, very low.
And it appears to have a V8?
I'm still assuming it'll look terrible in person, drive poorly, and will always be $50k away from "decent".
For "fuck it" money, id get some "Fauxrarri" badges and rock it.
Confident_Guide_3866@reddit
Looks like an LT1 from a c4 corvette or something to me
jamesc5z@reddit
This really is the best Fiero kit I've seen by far. I gotta give it kudos for that, neglect notwithstanding.
CookInKona@reddit
This is local to me and I've been tempted to check it out.... Not worth 5k though
TightTac05@reddit
Not if you consider how much back tax it will have.
CookInKona@reddit
I suggest you reread my comment, I said not worth 5k.....
Dinglebutterball@reddit
Two doobies and a wet ham sandwich.
TightTac05@reddit
Those are Hawaii plates with a very very old safety sticker, that means it is going to have years of back tax owed. 10 years at $250 a year plus penalties and interest is going to push $3K just to reset the registration.

dope-rhymes@reddit
That looks so so so bad. Is u was offered that POS for free is have to think about it.
WhatTheHellsThisNow@reddit
This already has the V8 swap in it. It’s probably a riot.
veteranCormorent33@reddit
Mate, it's a Fiero with a body kit, not a Testarossa. Value is all over the shop, but don't expect Ferrari money. If it's running and driving, that's a big plus. K-swap potential is there, but factor in the cost and hassle. Get a pre-purchase inspection done if you're serious. Probably worth more as a Fiero than a kit car unless the kit is absolute mint and the builder was a true craftsman.
Ziredin_3@reddit
Send these photos and information to Ferrari. You'll win official merchandise and help fight counterfeit copies. Look for an original Testarossa at auctions or import one from Europe; it's not an overly expensive model. There might even be a few in good condition in Mexico.
24_August_1814@reddit
LMAO sure bud, this is a "counterfeit" Ferrari the same way Monopoly money is "counterfeit" money.
ActiveShipyard@reddit
On what planet.
AlpineCoder@reddit
You know, when you're shopping for 2k junkers on marketplace and then drop 175k to import a Ferrari instead. Happens all the time.
Thejanitor64@reddit
swissarmychainsaw@reddit
not eve the six cylinder?
RobK68@reddit
Looks like the V8 conversion
swissarmychainsaw@reddit
yes! Vette maybe?
24_August_1814@reddit
Probably a 305 from a Camaro. Might even be the 190 hp LB9 that came with the automatics...
24_August_1814@reddit
A similar one in project condition sold for about a thousand bucks around here a couple years ago.
Ornery_Army2586@reddit
I remember a used car sales man that had one of these in the late 80’s early 90’s. The guy was a lying scam artist. Fake hair toupee, lived in his apartment for free by being a supposed maintenance man, would also wear fake designer clothes and told every poor and dumb young college age girl he ever saw about his “Ferrari”. Total scum bag but watching him “work” was entertaining, especially when one of us would tell the young lady he was with the car was a fake.
Zealousideal-Fix9464@reddit
The value is only in the body kit.
I was all in on getting a Fiero project car but the 86-88s are pretty much the only ones worth getting if you want anything even remotely close to "performance".
memtiger@reddit
Why was the Fiero such a moddable car choice?
EEpromChip@reddit
rear engine, wheelbase close enough to other supercars that they could make body kits and cool stuff.
SprungMS@reddit
*mid engine
EEpromChip@reddit
meh. To me mid engine is if it's in your lap. If the front is a boot it's rear engine.
Zealousideal-Fix9464@reddit
Lol no. It's a specific automotive engineering term that's not up for debate. Mid engine sits between front and rear axle centerlines, regardless of where the engine is actually located between those two points.
SprungMS@reddit
There is a massive difference between MR and RR as far as driving characteristics… location is close, but balance is nothing alike.
ARottenPear@reddit
How would an engine be in your lap? What does that mean?
There are real industry definitions for these things.
Engine in front but behind front axle (and rwd)? FMR
Engine in back but in front of rear axle? RMR
Engine in back but behind rear axle? RR
myfishprofile@reddit
Because ALL of the body panels are removable without any effect to the structure of the car
So in theory you could make new panels in whatever shape you wanted and just bolt it up with welding or modifying the chassis in any way
Zealousideal-Fix9464@reddit
Small, cheap, mid engine, sporty 80s euro styling
Just kind of a unique car that most everyone writes off.
Busterlimes@reddit
Offer $1500
Wtfjushappen@reddit
Worthless. No parts availability. It's trash and not worth anything.
mbt20@reddit
$500. You'll have rabbit hole after rabbit hole of repairs, fixes, head scratching, and looking for suitable replacement parts.
1TBSP_Neutrons@reddit
The only way that car is worth $500 is if there's a $300 hooker sitting in the passenger seat.
KiraTheWolfdog@reddit
Essentially, nothing.
Scoop it up for scrap price and turbo k swap it.
rsgoto11@reddit
I'm always so baffled by these kits. I get the versions that are tribute cars, Cobras, Speedsters, and the Daytona. No one wants a clapped out over priced wanna be. Yuck!
ThisOldGuy1976@reddit
Save yourself the embarrassment and don’t buy one.
ThisOldGuy1976@reddit
Nothing.
TheDrunkenWrench@reddit
According to the idiots who list them around me, a bazillion dollars.
Otherwise, less than a regular clean Fiero
resolve_it@reddit
$8-10k if you’re lucky interest will be high. Be a fun project definitely something different
Agitated_Occasion_52@reddit
Anytime I consider picking up a Fiero. I always go back and watch Ronald Fingers YouTube series about rebuilding his Fiero and it quickly reminds me that I have absolutely no interest in a Fiero.
chamoisjuice@reddit (OP)
Will watch thanks
phatassgato@reddit
How much you got in your wallet?

Damn loch ness monster
Unfair_Group_1974@reddit
Location matters. Look like photos from Hawaii
chamoisjuice@reddit (OP)
Yessah. Would be hilarious to roll thru Waikoloa w windows down top shakaz cold blooded soldier bumping heavy smoke rolling 😎🤙
Stampketron@reddit
These are very cool project cars. If the dimensions are right on the car, i could see it being worth $5k. If the dimensions are wrong, $2500.
Big-Energy-3363@reddit
3k maybe
Joiner2008@reddit
Why swap out the sbc? Is it a LB9 or L98?
theuautumnwind@reddit
HP limited with the TPI intake.
Plenty for a little fiero though!
Unfair_Group_1974@reddit
Mine scoots down the road a bit quicker than my 3800sc
theuautumnwind@reddit
Your what? Scoots faster than what?
Chassis and the rest of the driveline obviously makes a big difference.
The 3800sc I would imagine makes 350 to 400ish hp a lot easier than an L98 350tpi.
They are rated at the same hp stock though the tpi wins on tq.
I owned a Siamesed runner, p&p, full exhaust, cammed L98 G92 89 IROC with a hard top. For years back in the early 2000s. Loved that car. Torque monster but even with cam and head work and plenty of intake work that TPI just doesn’t make HP. Miniram or LT1 style short runner intake is needed to make it breath up top.
foamsprayer@reddit
It's worth the best offer.
That being said if it has a clean title, no accident or rust damage, 5k is a fair number to start. Tuned Port engines aren't very complicated so as long as the engine and transmission aren't toast it shouldn't take too much to get going
Offer 4-4.5k?
Motor-Oil-2196@reddit
Less than one without the kit in it.
qkdsm7@reddit
But then with an ~l98 tuned Port V8 swap.... it's back up to being more valuable than stock ;)
fadedspark@reddit
Not really? LS4 or Supercharged Series II or III V6 sure, but TPI? Meh. More trouble than it's worth.
qkdsm7@reddit
V8 over 2.8, all day every day....
fadedspark@reddit
Nah. If you want a swapped fiero, better not to have someone else's bad project to start with.
This thing is doubly fucked with.
Careless-Age-4290@reddit
When you're buying a kit car, you just gotta accept that the seller cut the corners you probably also would've cut yourself once you got tired of the money pit. If you were a stickler for authenticity, you probably wouldn't find yourself putting a fiberglass body on a Pontiac Fiero to make it look like a supercar. The whole ideology is based on it looking like something it's not.
Just accept that you're taking over an art project going in to it
Silky_bob@reddit
maybe the cost of a Fiero.
ReallyGottaTakeAPiss@reddit
Would be a funny meme car but it’s not gonna be so funny on the wallet
Proj3ctRandm@reddit
Doesn’t run. Hasn’t run in 10 years. First $5k takes it! lol……no
AmericanDed@reddit
Probably $2500 if it runs and drives
SyntheticParanoia@reddit
I'd be in at like a grand. Maybe 2-2 1/5 depending on some details, like if the motor spins, has good compression, etc. Gonna need some serious mojo to bring that girly back.
ActiveShipyard@reddit
A neglected Fiero will already be a headache. But if you're absolutely into this as a project, you might consider buying a plain-Jane Fiero that you know has been taken care of, then installing the kit on it. This assumes a ton of skill, time, and interest.
theuautumnwind@reddit
Which TPI engine is that? Could be a 305 or 350.
texan01@reddit
Probably a 305, but in that roller skate of a car, it’ll move quite well.
Personally I’d pull it and swap in a 3800SC
Electrical_Catch9231@reddit
$500 to a Lemon's race/rally team.
Ziggysan@reddit
Not $5000.
juwyro@reddit
It really depends on what they're asking for it.
nouniquenamesleft2@reddit
about 5K
AnusStapler@reddit
Less than its weight in scrap steel.
ShiggitySwiggity@reddit
I can't see much appeal for a badly executed, unfinished 40 year old faux Ferrari that hasn't run in 10 years.
I imagine he's getting a ton of interest because it's hilarious/interesting, but no buyers.
I wouldn't offer more than maybe 2 grand.
Ok_Entry4465@reddit
Look pretty rough i'd say like between 4 to 6k in that shape
Joiner2008@reddit
Google AI agrees that $5k is the low end for a Fiero Testarossa project car
SD_CA@reddit
You'll probably be 15k+ into it and a few years before it's done. And thats assuming you can do the work yourself.
MyNamesMikeD75@reddit
Whatever you can pay someone to haul it off for
