Who remembers miniature garden competitions in primary schools?

I went to school in south London and always remembered taking part in the miniature garden competitions. I was very proud to come second three years in a row 😂

The RHS do a school garden competition every year at the Malvern flower show.

In my London primary school in the 50s we were given, in the appropriate season, a daffodil bulb and some nasturtium seeds to grow in a pot. I think it was some Londonwide charity, and everyone got a certificate of some sort.

I've just remembered: beans from a runner bean pod in a jar with damp blotting paper to hold the beans against the glass.
