Xennials family meeting - I’m ready for the recliner life. My wife says we aren’t at that age yet but I strongly disagree. Recliners of Xennials, please share your reclining lifestyle to help support my case.

I sitting in a one as we speak.
ShowMeYourHappyTrail@reddit
I just spent the last week sleeping in my recliner because my neck and shoulders wouldn't allow me to sleep in bed. Was a much better sleep than having to sleep in my computer chair. LOL!
Living-Video-3670@reddit
Ive got a couch that has a recliner at each end. Maybe that would be a good compromise.
Mochigood@reddit
My nephew has stolen my recliner. Before that my dog stole my recliner. I very rarely get to enjoy it.
jitterbug726@reddit
I got my first recliner at 32, it’s been a good 9 years
throwsplasticattrees@reddit
Get outside and play with your friends. I don't want to see you home until the street lights come on.
Babymakerwannabe@reddit
Just last night I was thinking - is it time?
TuckerCarlsonsOhface@reddit
My wife is against the Lazyboy/BarcaLounger style, so I’m going to have to get a couch with recliners.
HiddenUser1248@reddit
My wife and I have recliners for morning coffee time, and a reclining seats in our sofa for TV time. :)
TuckerCarlsonsOhface@reddit
How do you drink coffee while reclined?
red286@reddit
I don't have a recliner, but my parents bought theirs when they were in their 40s, so to me it doesn't seem like you'd be too young for it.
bh0@reddit
I don't understand why you'd want uncomfortable couches. I've had the couches with the reclining sides for like 18 years now (on the 2nd couch now), and had a couple of my parent's old Lay-z-boy recliners before that. I'll never not have reclining living room furniture.
EBN_Drummer@reddit
I used our recliner when our kid was a baby, for feeding and for naps. Our couch now has two seats that recline. It's great for TV or a quick nap.
absentlyric@reddit
Get an overstuffed recliner! I love how it makes me feel like a little kid in a big comfy chair, and I'm a big guy.
My girlfriend likes it too because both of us can cuddle on it with a blanket, and recline back to watch movies.
lady_forsythe@reddit
I can’t sleep flat anymore because of a previous neurosurgery, so I sleep in a really plush recliner. I absolutely love it. It’s got charging ports, a heated back, automated footrest. My model comes in a loveseat version so we bought one for the kids and they love it too. Recliner life is where it’s at.
crapatthethriftstore@reddit
Ok so this sounds divine. What brand is it?
TooTallBrawl1919@reddit
Recliner couch here! Great for snuggling or putting your feet up and taking a nap!
General_Addendum_883@reddit
I've had a recliner couch for about 14 years and I wouldn't get anything else. Just bought a new one recently and almost got a recliner chair to go with it but decided not to get the chair right now because my young kids would definitely try their hardest to tip it over.
crapatthethriftstore@reddit
Finding the balance of tipping the recliner just enough to be on the back legs only was a childhood game at our house so… I get it 🤣
CatAnxiety@reddit
Just purchased two reclining loveseats to replace our large sectional. Now everyone can recline instead of the one person in the corner!
Logical-Cherry9395@reddit
I don't get this. I've used a recliner since my teens and never considered it to be an "Old people" thing. It's the perfect place to curl up and read.
HaM8ones@reddit
I agree, but my wife says they are ugly. They look like heaven to me.
crapatthethriftstore@reddit
They certainly can be but I was at the Laz-y-boy store a little hike back and the options they have are quite a lot more diverse than they used to be.
Logical-Cherry9395@reddit
Have you looked at theater chairs? For home theaters? That might work. My parents had these giant wing-backed ones with a tapestry type upholstery. They were comfy and handsome. They worked really well in their front room that doubles as a library.
TheHoodieConnoisseur@reddit
Yeah, but as I’m quickly learning, some things we did in our teens and 20’s were fine then but somehow turn into old people things in our late 40’s. Go pick up a print newspaper and read it in your recliner while watching Seinfeld reruns and see how you feel…
Logical-Cherry9395@reddit
I guess it depends on how you view getting older. I don't have this need to remain or appear young. I just need to be me...and that means I have three recliners in my house so I can get comfy and read. I've been cuddling in an oversized chair with tea and a book since I was 9. Why should I stop because some phone and age obsessed people decided "that's what old people do".
Oddly, I still don't read the paper and I've never enjoyed Seinfeld.
TheHoodieConnoisseur@reddit
Yeah, I was one of those old souls as a kid that always felt like I’d peak in my 30’s and 40’s and that was pretty much on point. But now that I’m staring at 50 right around the corner, I kinda want to stay right where I am. I also have young kids running around playing baseball and football, so I’m trying to mentally stay young to keep up with them. Hoping to stretch my relative youth out til at least 55. Here’s hoping…
Logical-Cherry9395@reddit
My youngest are 5 and 6. I feel this in my creaking joints.
TheHoodieConnoisseur@reddit
I felt like my ankle exploded like a glass firecracker the other day after I kicked a soccer ball. Once.
MsBlondeViking@reddit
Perfect place to read, nap, or sleep propped up if necessary while sick.
Logical-Cherry9395@reddit
Hell, I lived in one when I got put on modified bedrest in my second pregnancy.
MsBlondeViking@reddit
Best place to sleep when on bedrest!
graveybrains@reddit
I've never willing sat upright in my life.
zomgkittenz@reddit
You just haven’t bought an expensive enough computer chair yet.
graveybrains@reddit
I had a Herman Miller for a while, was not a fan.
Finding a brand new one by the office dumpster when a neighboring company went out of business was still pretty fucking cool, though.
Anyone-9451@reddit
The only “old person” version is the one that can tip forward to help you get out of it lol (might raise up too)
Significant_Dog412@reddit
Age nothing. My Grandparents had a couple in their living room when I was a teen, and they were bliss.
Also made a great bed if I was staying over, possibly after enjoying too much trashy satellite TV (something I couldn't get at home) into the wee hours.
trumpsmellslikcheese@reddit
Yeah, I just recently got rid of one I've had since my late 20s. I get that a lot of older people have them, but it's not as though it's limited to their usage. Not sure where the sentiment in this post is coming from.
Issis_P@reddit
Right?! I used to sit in my dads all the time. Super cozy.
SmokedPapfreaka@reddit
My wife and I got a fancy Lazy-boy couch with side by side recliners so that we can recline but still cuddle. We were ready for the recliner life.
Gwarnage@reddit
Weirdly, I don't generally see gen x/xennials as recliner types. We weren't allowed to sit on the recliner, and when we did, they broke. So I feel like we have a natural aversion to them.
Ditzy_Davros@reddit
I didn't really break them.. per se. We had/have cats. I think I may have traumatized myself by squishing one of my cats underneath. She was fine, it just the visual of her feet sticking out and the look on her face. Ever since then, I've been wary of recliners.
Local_Debate_8920@reddit
I was allowed on all our furniture. I broke the spring under the lazy boy and my mom just fixed it and let me go back to flipping it over. I don't know how they had so much patience with me.
I love lazy boys. I spent the night in our a few times.
WahineExpress@reddit
You think an entire generation of people weren’t allowed to sit on recliners?? Or somehow we broke everyone we did sit on? None of that is true? Your parents probably broke them then blamed you.
Gwarnage@reddit
I definitely broke at least 2 on my own. We all learn the hard way that the foot rest alone cant support the weight of a large child.
username__0000@reddit
Parents in the 80/90s were brutal.
Mine killed my turtle (it fell when they had it out and cracked its shell) and then put it back like nothing happened.
I didn’t even find out until I was in my 30s. I was like “wtf else did you destroy and then blame me?!?”
Active_Yellow_1573@reddit
You'll have to drag me to hell before I go to even consider getting a recliner. Buy an ottoman like a real adult should! 😂
Gwarnage@reddit
Yeah, I feel like our generation just buys 40 feet of couches
Appropriate-Food1757@reddit
I do hate the old school ones. I would like a nice chair ottoman combo like an Eames or maybe one of the newer less butt ugly recliners.
Kinetic_Silverwolf@reddit
I have cats. I have cats I cannot trust to not get under and inside and curl up when the ottoman is extended. So, no. I'll stick to a chaise lounge on the end of the couch.
dudly825@reddit
Never. Won’t play ball golf either.
therealmudslinger@reddit
Big fan. Waited too long.
SweetCosmicPope@reddit
I love having a recliner. My wife says they are horrid and for old people and refuses to let me have one in the living room, so I just set one up on my home office and kick back and watch movies in there.
NW_Forester@reddit
Recliners are getting worse and worse. Its hard to find one that has high quality leather and no electronics. You can still do it, but they are rare. Buy one before a proper recliner is no longer available.
I bought my first overstuffed recliner in 2007 when I moved into my first decent place after college. It still holds up ok but I figure at most its got another 10 years, though it could fall apart any time. I've been thinking its time to get a replacement.
MilaVaneela@reddit
I came home one afternoon to find my husband (we’re both Xennials) in his recliner… watching Matlock 😂 he just looked at me, nodded and said “yep, I am”
USAF_Retired2017@reddit
I’ve had a recliner since my early thirties and I’m a woman. I will always have a recliner. They’re the best.
nirreskeya@reddit
I still have the La-Z-Boy that my parents bought as 30somethings when I was about 8 or 9. At my cabin for many years I had another one that a friend had picked up on a street curb but a couple years ago my uncle offered to replace it with one that's a bit newer and nicer so the old ratty one was moved back to the friend's place.
CMJunkAddict@reddit
Got a recliner, found it too painful to sit in, it sinks too low and there’s a gap between cushion right where the lower back presses. 4 years later, they finally figure out my issue is a pinched nerve. My kingdom for a ‘Cliner! Only chair I can sit in is an ergonomic one at a desk, that’s the least painful ATM. PT is my way to reclinerville, and I hope to join y’all sometime soon.
ParticularBed6338@reddit
My house is too small for one but I bet they’re cozy. I have a hard enough time fighting falling asleep when I go to the movie theater that have them. I’m not paying $15 to take a nap.
ParticularBed6338@reddit
Not a recliner but I have a Zero Gravity Patio Chair that I lay in at work every day after I eat lunch. Up until a few years ago I only had 30 minutes for lunch so when I got a full hour for lunch I bought one. Game changer to take a little nap outside on the back lawn at work and return refreshed for the afternoon. Highly recommend getting one.
just_some_guy2000@reddit
I actually prefer a good club chair with a footstool. It doesn't shift when I fall asleep on it.
sunsetandporches@reddit
This is where I am at. I got a set from a friend and love it. It’s my chair and they all know it.
just_some_guy2000@reddit
I got a 2nd hand Pottery Barn club chair from Facebook. I do refer to it as "my chair".
Melvinator5001@reddit
I’ve been using a recliner for 30yrs! Aren’t that age tell your wife to pound sand and buy two.
MetalEnthusiast83@reddit
It's just a chair, not an age thing lol.
I have had a recliner of some capacity around since I was like 12
the_way_around@reddit
What? What? Who....what house doesn't alreay have a recliner?
Wuunderschon@reddit
Lol. I am in the process of purchasing one in fact. Still figuring out how can the delivery guy is going to carry it up through the stairs (no elevator).
smokiechick@reddit
The back usually comes off, but it's still heavy as fuck
The_Fell_Opian@reddit
Recliner came immediately after the baby.
smokiechick@reddit
Actually, I loved ours when I was pregnant - feet up, pressure in different places than bed, cushier than the sofa. And then dozing with the baby
Far_Cut_@reddit
Yep!!
smolstuffs@reddit
We bought a recliner couch last year. It's olive color leather and much more stylish than traditional recliners, but every once in awhile I am absolutely embarrassed for myself.
gabbobbag@reddit
I did not grow up in a recliner household.
I’ve also always been very into interior design, and a recliner doesn’t really fit into my space.
That said, every time I sit in one I think about how comfortable they are and inch ever closer to maybe getting one for myself.
uns0licited_advice@reddit
I loved my recliner. Wife made me give it up when we moved into a new house because it didn't fit the aesthetic she was going for. I hope I can get one back eventually, or one of those high end massage chairs.
EidolonRook@reddit
I had recliner life at like 14 and speed run through to wooden rockers in my twenties.
Now I can’t use them anymore because my IT bands can’t stretch enough and get super achy when I rock too much.
Now I don’t have enough apartment room for a recliner so I just go between computer chair and couch.
wooq@reddit
"That age?" I had my first recliner in college. Recliners are a comfy chair, and you should be able to sit in a comfy chair whenever.
Furballprotector@reddit
Been enjoying recliner life since my early 30s and not looking back
Spooky_Betz@reddit
I have a beanbag. None of that styrofoam shit inside either, memory foam. Feels like laying in a float in a pool just sitting in my garage.
besleysfw@reddit
Both my father and grandfather died in their recliners. I’m never going to own one lol
funatical@reddit
I sit. I exist. Legs out. Legs in. The world turns. I sit.
NordicWulf@reddit
I have been living the recliner life for years!
InevitableWishbone10@reddit
I'd get one for me and tell her she'll get one when she's ready.Mind you I'm divorced, sooo...
Murderbot_420@reddit
I’m 49 and few things would make me happier than having a recliner.
RobertBDwyer@reddit
We got recliner couch/chairs second hand 2 years ago. The recline is optional, but seldom passed on.
Hillbillygeek1981@reddit
Who waits this long to get a recliner?
Sub_Zero_Fks_Given@reddit
Forget a recliner. It's all about a hot tub with a lounge. It's like an underwater recliner but 10X better for you.
Allureme@reddit
No recliner here. Takes up too much space.
ebzees@reddit
Haha! Our two recliners are being delivered today, actually
Mysterious_Fennel459@reddit
I've never found recliners that comfortable. I have a dual electric recliner couch but I hardly ever recline it because I already said it didnt feel that comfortable and it seems like every time I do recline it, I need to get up like a minute later and because it's electric, it takes an hour to un-cline.
59apache01@reddit
I have an old back injury and I can't use a recliner. Every one I've tried puts pressure in exactly the wrong spot!
AppliedCarbon@reddit
I got a stress less reclining chair and LOVE it
apf6@reddit
We have a lazyboy but everytime I sit in it I end up taking a nap. It’s kind of a problem. My goal is to “pull an all-dayer” more often, that’s where you stay awake the whole day without napping.
UptownJunk802@reddit
No way. My husband has had a recliner since our 20s. It's not an age thing, more of a comfort thing. He's had a couple abdominal surgeries and reclining has been key in his comfort and recovery.
Fast-Damage2298@reddit
This is so weird. My husband took me to the furniture store just yesterday to look at recliners. He's really pushing for recliner life.
AllThe--SmallThings@reddit
My wife held out forever on this. Then she sat in her sister's recliner one weekend and we had two delivered within the week. She reclines harder than I do now.
grimorg80@reddit
Typing this from my garden recliner. It's never too early to start the reclining life.
Moto272@reddit
My wife and I bought an L shaped sectional leather sofa with three recliners last year. 10/10 would recommend.
Barkerfan86@reddit
Same. Loved ours until our new dog decided to use it as a launch pad and bouncing walls.
username__0000@reddit
My parents have them and when we visit with the pets I have to constantly remind them to check before closing it. Cats love dark tight spaces.
I have no desire to own one, too stressful. lol
Scary-Detail-3206@reddit
I love our sectional for the dog aspect of it. I sit on the chaise part of it and my dogs just tuck themselves in around me. They wouldn’t be able to do that on a reclining chair.
handsomeape95@reddit
Have two reclining sofas. When I recline, my dog likes to lay lengthwise on top of me. He may be a bit spoiled.
ChochMcKenzie@reddit
We had a couch and love seat that had R recliners total built in, plus my La-Z-Boy. This was just for me and my wife and our dogs. We finally wore that couch out and went with a chaise sectional, but the college kid we gave the recliner couches to loves them.
Meggos1022@reddit
Yes, this is the way. Ours also has a side table that pulls down with cupholders.
bladegmn@reddit
Can confirm, this is the way.
Fun-Preparation-4253@reddit
Both my grandparents and my parents had "their" chair. A pair of oversized chairs separated by a end table with a lamp. My wife and I have have had couches. I'm ready. I get it being harder to cuddle, but I think we'd be happier overall.
But also, we have cats and will always have cats. So the idea of spending money on furniture just doesn't happen.
handsomeape95@reddit
When I moved out my dad decided to give me his recliner. I guess he really wanted an excuse to upgrade his. It was packed up by movers. When my furniture came in and I unwrapped it you could practically see the cigarette smoke emanating from it. My roommates demanded it go out on the deck. I think we left it out for a week and eventually brought it inside. Became an interesting piece of furniture after that.
Popcorn_and_Polish@reddit
My cats love laying with me in my recliner. Just saying. And they have lots of cat posts to scratch so they don’t scratch the furniture.
Fun-Preparation-4253@reddit
Oh, our cats already lay on us when we're on them, but they also use them as scratch pads... considering there are towers and pads all over the room.
Frank_Stoner@reddit
I've played like 4,000 hours of Breath of the Wild with my cat Monkey Man watching from my legs. I bought an actual Lay-Z-Boy recliner, which is fine, but it was 600 bucks and I could have easily bought a cheaper one. Recliners are dope.
ConnectKale@reddit
Your wife is right. A Recliner will ruin your life
Nuker-79@reddit
You mean you don’t have recliners yet? What have you been doing with your life? Could you be any more behind the times?
scroopydog@reddit
We got a really contemporary looking couch from lazy boy that has reclining seats on each end. We’ve had them for ten years, they’re wearing great, would recommend. We have two matching ones. That’s four recliners for you mathematicians.
heaven_and_hell_80@reddit
We bought a LaZBoy for when our kids were born - it was the nursing chair. It has now become my personal relaxing-at-all-times-of-day chair. It's the best.
GXP_2009@reddit
I don't think I'll ever have a recliner. But I am at the "chair on the front porch" phase.
TheHoodieConnoisseur@reddit
No! That’s the Rubicon. After the recliner comes the ragged out robe, slippers, and a print newspaper subscription to drink with your Maxwell House while watching 40-year old sitcom reruns.
ChochMcKenzie@reddit
I have had a La-Z-Boy since I was about 30 (same chair still!) and it’s incredible. Get your recliner when you want to get it. My wife was all in on me getting it.
kathatter75@reddit
I loved the Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert recliner moment from the other night. Watch it together…maybe that will help :)
sixmilesoldier@reddit
My parents got me a LaZboy for Christmas when I was 23. I’ve been about that recliner life since I was a kid.
TransomBob@reddit
Here’s a weird one for ya. I gave up my couch and turned that space into an open area where I can lie down, watch TV, exercise, stretch, and just generally exist in whatever position feels right. It’s basically the ultimate recliner.
HotRingWraith@reddit
Just woke up from an ice machine for my shoulder in the recliner nap.
BrandyBunch805@reddit
We bought 2 sofas- with a total of 4 recliners built in. It’s amazing 🤩
Skulls_of_Ink@reddit
I argue they don't make them like they used to. A nice Lay-Z-Boy from the 80s-90s beats my expensive ones I have been getting these days by a long shot.
ASomthnSomthn@reddit
I bought a recliner when I was 19 and in the army. Sat in it at the PX, realized it was the most comfortable thing I’d ever sat in, bought it immediately, and then carried it by hand all the way back to my barracks. I still have that recliner, and it’s still the most comfortable thing I’ve ever sat in.
Don_Shetland@reddit
I have 2 leather love seats, that recline and massage with heat. Also cup holders, wireless phone chargers and butt speakers.
Was worth it, would buy again
cdizzle6@reddit
Finally got my first one a few months ago. Absolutely love it.
tubagoat@reddit
We feed the baby in one and then we both fall asleep. The only time i sit in one is if it is ok to fall asleep. #OldDad.
bloodshotnblue@reddit
You were born ready for recliner life. Up to you to choose your destiny of which one is right for you now
ScurvyDervish@reddit
I resisted soo hard and then I bought one. https://www.roomstogo.com/furniture/product/hardwick-brown-dual-power-recliner/13962988
Far_Cut_@reddit
Sitting in mine as we speak! I've had it for 10 years...

All of these posts about being and feeling old are weird to me. I'm 45 and in the best shape of my life. Mostly to keep up with my 5 year old. Just so hard to relate to this "I'm old" posts. Surely I'm not the only one, right?
jwhennig@reddit
I bought a recliner in my 20s and it was the only furniture I brought back from college.
Had to get rid of it because it was hurting my back. Had to upgrade to one with heat and massage. Worth the $$$.
meggsovereasy@reddit
The past couple of years I’ve been dealing with chronic illness, and I bought one specifically for our living room. We don’t have a TV in there so it’s a nice place to read and relax, especially when it gets cold because we have a wood-burning fireplace. We got a small-ish one, not overstuffed. I love it. I will never live without a recliner again.
sleepy_unicorn40@reddit
My husband and I ditched our love seat last summer and got recliners. It's amazing! We made sure they were super comfortable due to our back issues.
Hobbes2442@reddit
La-z boy is expensive, but well worth the money. Don’t go cheap!
SilverAsparagus2985@reddit
I have a recliner specifically for cozying up to the tv to play my little games on the tv. It just looks different now.
heresmytwopence@reddit
Just spent the last 4 years with a dual reclining home theater sofa as the only living room furniture. I think it would have been nice for occasional sitting, but as primary seating it got old quickly. I'm happy to have a sectional again.
DismalIngenuity4604@reddit
I'm eyeing my first one :)
gaudrhin@reddit
I've got a 2 bedroom townhouse to myself, and the extra bedroom is my NerdCave.
In both my living room and the NerdCave, I have the same couch. Both ends recline.
It's perfect to have a friend over and game or watch stuff or just chat.
And the reclining parts are co somfy that when I've been recovering from surgery, I just sleep on the downstairs couch. My 55yo cousin was just here fkr a weekend and slept on the recliner couch. Said it was great.
jcstrat@reddit
My parents had recliners. I’ve always hated them. My wife wants them. I really really don’t. I like our couch.
Dismal-core111@reddit
I love my recliners
Popcorn_and_Polish@reddit
I’ve had one for years! First one was whatever Costco sold. Second (and current) is an electric recliner that I picked out. It was expensive but I love it. It’s built really well and so far has lasted longer than the Costco one.
TheDevil-YouKnow@reddit
I've had a recliner since my 20s. Usually it was some sorta fancy reclining gamer chair, but it fucking reclined wondrously, and was always comfortable.
I'm barely in my 40s now so I've gone mid-tier $250 sorta recliner. Little longer more and I'm gonna get the refrigerator, 3 cup holders, maybe a massage feature sorta setup.
I've been wearing robes, sitting in recliners, smoking pipes for TWENTY YEARS just about.
Riker_Omega_Three@reddit
I don't understand NOT having a recliner
It was literally the first thing I purchased when I bought my house in my late 20's
I'm about to buy another one
Recliners are superior to non reclining chairs in all ways
This whole idea that you need an "aesthetic" for your furniture is completely bonkers
Furniture is supposed to be comfortable
The single most comfortable sofa my family ever had was the god awful floral thing. It was dark blue with flowers on it
But it was super deep. Like 6" minimum deeper than sofa's these days.
It was a custom from a furniture shop, not a prefab one from a furniture store
Someone ordered it, bailed on the deal, and my family got it for pennies on the dollar
It had those giant 90's flat pillows too....the ones that were like 36" square that you could use for pillows or blankets if you had enough
That sofa was the nap king
Every friend who spent the night crashed on that sofa
I took it with me when I got my first apartment during college and every drunk buddy of mine crashed on that sofa and raved about it
Living room furniture is supposed to be comfort first, aesthetic second
That's why Boomer generations had sitting rooms with all the fancy furniture that nobody sat in. That was the "we have nice shit" furniture
But the living room was the broken in napping furniture...always
Diva_Bot@reddit

Not only does my sofa have 2 reclining seats, they are power recliners. So I don't even have to expend any personal energy!
thelaineybelle@reddit
Recliner life!! Between perimenopause and lousy sinus drainage, recliners are so dang awesome for sleep.
-notfadeaway-@reddit
My wife and I got a recliner as a gift when we had our child. It was great for a baby but it was my reintroduction to recliner life. Recliner couches are also nice but pay a lot of attention when shopping. The one I got weighed A LOT, which should be considered if you need to PIVOT up or down a flight of stairs. The couch wasn’t really wasn’t comfortable to lay down on.
RedbarnRiver@reddit
I got a recliner in my early twenties. My kids have grown up with it as part of their daily life. It is green and doesn’t match the rest of the furniture in the house, but they refuse to let me move it or get rid of it at this point. As they are teens now they say, but dad it’s my childhood.
You’re ready for a recliner whenever you want one.
Workamania@reddit

I won money from a settlement, and updated all the furniture in my living room. I can't do it yet. It's my "That's it. I'm done." gift to myself. They are nice when I use them but I can't make it a destination after work each night, falling asleep there, etc. I just can't. Not yet. My younger brother has a pair and renews them every 6 years or so. Ooof.

Dude. I'm sending this comment from a recliner right now.
GerlockADUS@reddit
I hope one day to own a recliner.
danfang0@reddit
I'm on the hunt for a recliner but I'm trying to avoid the overstuffed la-z-boy 90s looking type, I figure there's gotta be a comfortable recliner that looks relatively modern and stylish...right?
Illustrious-Roll7737@reddit
You're never too young to recline. All furniture should be recliner based and height adjustable.
Lasod_Z@reddit
Lazy boy owner since 2003. Same chairs still going strong. Inspiration to get them was 100% the image used here.
I_like_flowers_@reddit
I got one 8 years ago because its comfy.
MyDearDoctor@reddit
My wife sits in a recliner every night and loves it. So do the cats. The only reason I sit on the couch instead is that I almost always fall asleep in recliners.
Bland_Boring_Jessica@reddit
You’re horizontally optimizing your existence like a Roman emperor waiting to be fed grapes.
Significant-Rush-129@reddit
We have swivels. Modern caramel brown leather swivels from West Elm.
Noisechild@reddit
Reclining since 1996, and still haven't gotten up yet.
katieclooney@reddit
I have a rocking recliner and it is life
Hynch@reddit
Recliners are fantastic!
MsBlondeViking@reddit
If you ask me, you’re beyond the age lol. I have had a recliner my whole adult life, whether as part of my couch or a separate chair. My family room has a couch with two recliners, and a matching rocking recliner chair.
Canacarirose@reddit
I didn’t have recliners as a kid because we had no room in our small place. I mean we could have had one that would have the room to recline… so I never saw it as an old person thing.
I always saw it as a, do we have the room issue.
Had a recliner in college, great to game in until you got overheated.
a_wascally_wabbit@reddit
Maybe I am just fucked up. Im 43 and still feel 30, fuck recliner lifer, disc golf, drones and lego.
A_lunch_lady@reddit
I am 43, feel 30 and love my recliner
Late-Arrival-8669@reddit
Been using recliner for +16 years..
For once, I'm ahead of the game!

This seems less and less outrageous with each passing day
KeyInvestment6594@reddit
I've been using a recliner for a long time ..... Although it might be time for an upgrade into one that also has a massage built into it like the chairs at the gym LOL

I’m gonna need a pillow on my lap and my MacBook
lastcallhall@reddit
Zero grav couch bought a couple years back. My only concern is that I know the motor will eventually break and I'll have to buy another one. No regrets.
Podwitchers@reddit
I love my recliner and honestly it’s a really nice one that doesn’t look like a 90s lazy boy or anything. NOT that there’s anything wrong with a lazy boy but I get not wanting that aesthetic.
postitpad@reddit
I was looking for a new couch last year and I learned that if you want all three seats to recline, you need to put it together as a sectional. But I got what I wanted.
A_Girl_Has_No_Name58@reddit
Recliner couch and recliner here, which have lasted a decade.
itsmiddylou@reddit
I have grown up with a recliner in my house my entire life. 41 in two weeks and I will only buy things where I can put my feet up.
It’s not an age thing, it’s a take care of your body thing.
lvsnowden@reddit
Why be uncomfortable? We moved to electric recliners as soon as we could afford it, which was age 40.
Our sectional couch is recliners in the living room and our theater seating consists of seven leather recliners.
salsanacho@reddit
On the same vein, i see these massage recliners at costco that I'm really tempted to finally get. I think i would just stay there all day.
Sparked_Zwei@reddit
All about that plush recliner couch life now.
screamingcatfish@reddit
I'm emotionally attached to a wonky recliner that was my late husband's, even though I basically commandeered it as soon as he moved it into our apartment back in 2007, and he rarely sat in it afterwards. I'm a recliner rutabaga rather than a couch potato. I spent soooo many hours in it, probably at least a third of them asleep.
MisterTam@reddit
If i could get my PC setup with a recliner, I would be in pure bliss.
Saram78@reddit
This is not an old person thing. Even if it was, do what makes you happy. I bought my Lay z Boy whn I was 29. Still have it and love it every day. Enjoy your life, you don't get much of it.
No_Scientist7086@reddit
I’m typing this from my two seater recliner with cupholders, a console, and plush comfiness that no other place in the entire home has…..she be trippin.
turbowhitey@reddit
We had a nursery recliner, but it worked so well we bought a second one and put into our downstairs movie room
Quimbymouse@reddit
Coming in with another L shaped sectional sofa with recliners. Absolute game changer. Recliner, cup holders, and USB ports for chilling, and big cushy sofa for afternoon naps.
msheehan418@reddit
Shiiiiiiit I had a recliner when I was 25 and I’m a girl

about 5 years ago i decided that there was never going to be an interior design magazine coming to photo my house. it was time to get rid of the mid back mid century modern couch and get a big ass brown couch with recliners and massage, and cupholders.
i am in my comfort era, and the back massages in the couch are the best thing i have spent money on in ages.
eyelers@reddit
Yes. Do it
