Put it on the stove til its a bit burnt on both sides, its so much better trust me
mrjonnyringo72@reddit
Nobody's forcing you to eat it, but I'll take that off your hands!
Life-Performer-3393@reddit
And this is why she’s still you girlfriend
Sad-Structure2364@reddit
Anytime someone makes something for you it’s nice. Cooking is a wonderful thing to learn together as a couple, you guys should try
IM_NOT_NOT_HORNY@reddit (OP)
I usually cook and I usually do healthier stuff lol
jbjhill@reddit
And we still say “Thank You” to that person, and mean it. Be gracious.
IM_NOT_NOT_HORNY@reddit (OP)
Well duh I did say thank you many times I was just saying yeah I know how to cook and yeah I do reach teach her when I do i wasn't trying to sound pretentious.
I'm very grateful she cooked this and it still tasted great
IcebergDarts@reddit
Still posted to a derogatory food sub though… just trying to salvage the downvotes
Ill-Television8690@reddit
This sub isn't explicitly derogatory. It's literally for food that we'd eat anyway, hence the "porn" part...
IcebergDarts@reddit
Regardless.. dude has been trashing his girlfriend’s cooking in a derogatory manner and is now trying to rebound once people downvoted him. Just calling a spade a spade.
guilty_bystander@reddit
Right? One could pan fry some spam, the other could make the mac
Acids@reddit
Isn't spam pre cooked?
IM_NOT_NOT_HORNY@reddit (OP)
Yes but it's way better after trying it up
CreeepyUncle@reddit
I love the ones that have been sitting wrapped in plastic under the hot lights for hours at the 7-11.
It’s a superfood! A complete meal with all the food groups.
Fits in your pocket!
Got your carb group, salt group, grease group, and seaweed wrapped to freshen your breath.
Perfect in all ways!
Mister_Green2021@reddit
They make low sodium spam. Worth a try.
creatyvechaos@reddit
Missing the point here. The sodium helps fry and crisp the spam
Mister_Green2021@reddit
that would be the fat
AwDuck@reddit
I lived on a tiny island in the South Pacific for a few years and became well aware of all the types canned meat including the dozens of varieties of Spam. Canned meat in general is usually really popular on these remote islands since dependable electricity, and therefore dependable refrigeration is relatively new.
Given our proximity to SE Asia and Australia (yeah, I know those two aren’t remotely close to each other, but they were both close to us), and having a solid trade with the US, we got Spam intended for all sorts of markets. One store had a solid 10-15 meter long aisle of canned meat (not including canned fish - that was a different aisle), Spam taking up a good portion of that. Among the various flavors, there were five different reduced sodium Spams available. There was 25% less, 33% less, 50% less, “reduced sodium” and “lower sodium”. It’s been a while so I don’t remember the numbers, but the percentage didn’t match the sodium content from one market to another. For example, if the 25% less had 600mg of sodium, the 50% less was like 500mg.
The most unique canned meat was whole canned chicken. It was a small chicken, stuffed into a tall and relatively narrow can. It wasn’t bad. It just tasted like Campbells chicken noodle soup without the noodles. There was also canned antelope, canned wildebeest (I think - could have been yak) and canned ostrich - those didn’t strike me as oddly as a whole canned chicken did for some reason.
I also remember when there was a recall on some corned beef (supposedly just a labeling error) that was evidently the favorite among many because there were people at the customer service counter demanding that they should be able to buy the recalled meat.
IM_NOT_NOT_HORNY@reddit (OP)
We did get that. But tbh she put a LOT of spam in there lmao. She shoild have made two batches of Kraft to accommodate the whole can of spam. Kraft also has so much sodium as well.
We both felt a bit sick after eating this but felt better after chugging some water.
Sargash@reddit
Try helping her cook the spam next time while they make the maccy cheese. Take up the dishes too since frying a bit of spam is so much less work than the kraft.
Whoppertino@reddit
Frying spam and making instant Mac n cheese might be the simplest thing you could do in the kitchen. There's no need to split the labor. It's 10 minutes of easy work. This isn't a project.
IM_NOT_NOT_HORNY@reddit (OP)
She did try to cook it but she didn't understand how to use a cast iron skillet. I threw out all our nonstick pans since they have been worn and scratched up (she also learned recently to not use the metal spatula with those lol)
But yeah we only have an electric range here at the house we rent and I mostly use cast iron now since it's so much nicer with those ranges. It prevents the temp from fluctuating like crazy.
But she didn't realize it takes almost 10 minutes for it to reach proper cooking temp since it's so thick.
It's honestly shocking how much better all my food ends up with cast iron. I just got a cast iron griddle and the pancakes I made the other day... Sooo good. I used some grade A Madagascar vanilla beans too and just scraped the innards of the beans into the batter and it was PHENOMENAL. Recommend everyone try it at some point rather than the "extract" you get at the store which is usually artificial vanillin... Or literally vanillin extracted from anal secretions of beavers (look it up)
Just got a cast iron Dutch oven too ima make some bread in.
No_Philosophy_6817@reddit
Oooo! You just gave me a lovely idea, thank you very much!! I just bought a new Dutch oven because (well, I've wanted one forever and...) my daughter saw a show where they made birria tacos and she insisted that we try making them. But, you just mentioned making bread in yours and now I'm going to have to try that too! Oh my goodness, I was so focused on the birria that I forgot all the other possibilities. Yay 🤔🤯😜😁
Sargash@reddit
Oh man I know that time. I will say that, I started using an induction top for my cast iron, and it heats up soooo much faster. (Also doesn't produce so much waste heat in the summer. And so much cheaper too.) Glass top makes it super easy to clean too.
smilebig553@reddit
We have a museum for spam about 2 hrs south of the twin cities, mn
Capt_Hawkeye_Pierce@reddit
I air fry my spam slices.
WinterSector8317@reddit
Cooking does not render out sodium ffs
SeaToTheBass@reddit
Spam is soaked with sodium, by frying and and cooking out the fat it stands to reason that you’re removing some sodium
uhnjuhnj@reddit
The water evaporates. The salt stays.
IM_NOT_NOT_HORNY@reddit (OP)
Some of it does end up staying in the pan. And I mean if you pat it dry it also gets some salt.
Ive cooked it with a George foreman before and so much of the fat dripped out. And I tested the flavor because I figured it might be good for something like gravy or frying tofu (since tofu tends to absorb the flavor) and it was VERY salty... So it definitely does remove some of the sodium depending how it's cooked. Probably not a substantial amount but decent
SeaToTheBass@reddit
Alright, I’ll admit I was wrong. Never really thought about before, I like salt.
JerryMau5@reddit
SeaToTheBass@reddit
Yeah I had that wrong lol
OkEase1151@reddit
Always sear your Spam always ✊
UrUncleRandy@reddit
Definitely. I've only had spam once - my mother sliced it super thin with a mandoline and pan-fried it. It was quite crispy and honestly, fantastic.
SCAT_GPT@reddit
This man cooks
Acids@reddit
Yes I agree
Xerfus@reddit
No, you must accept all cookies to get spam
DavieStBaconStan@reddit
Fully cooked. You can eat it straight ftom the can.
Aware_Alfalfa8435@reddit
There's a right way to do things.
LarenCoe@reddit
Yes, but it's nasty if eaten cold though.
SkynetLurking@reddit
Big difference between already being cooked and still being cold
Acids@reddit
Sure but there's is a difference between uncooked and cooked. Uncooked implies raw
SkynetLurking@reddit
It’s a common thing people say, like “cooking hotdogs”. There’s no need to be pedantic when you know exactly what they mean
Acids@reddit
Honestly I was just making sure I knew it was pretty cooked
GravyPainter@reddit
Yeah but it's texture and flavor is off unless you slap it in a pan and cook a little
Acids@reddit
I know I was just checking
_HalfBaked_@reddit
Yes.
CreeepyUncle@reddit
She’s a keeper.

Brodiggitty@reddit
PLoxeus@reddit
It looks like someone wandering through the desert absolutely parched and screaming for ketchup
toomuchtv987@reddit
I mean, Spam is cooked, you can eat it straight from the can. Is it better heated up? Yes. But it is fully cooked and ready to go as-is.
groovyinutah@reddit
Acceptable...I would have fried the spam though.
Alalanais@reddit
Of course it's a paper plate
Bright_Curve3078@reddit
Marriage material
engrish_is_hard00@reddit
Yes please give me moar
56Bagels@reddit
I absolutely love this meal… after cubing the spam and giving it a good sear. Some hot sauce goes hard too.
nerdycarguy18@reddit
My favorite meal when I was little was Roni Haw Hog…. Macaroni and hot dog. Easy and good everytime
Express-Exercise1598@reddit
That shit literally tastes like cat food uncooked.
DuckSwimmer@reddit
I’m pregnant, never had spam, but I feel like I’d fuck this up
_lilidawn_@reddit
I can clearly see browning on the spam??
It definitely isn't cooked enough for my liking, but its clearly not just cold out of the can.
Either way, she put in the effort to cook for you... why are you posting about it on reddit shaming her?? If you want those "more complex" meals you were talking about, cook for yourself.
milk3njoy3r@reddit
No corn?
thefivetenets@reddit
my dad would LOVE this
Great_Will_1361@reddit
Lucky
DavieStBaconStan@reddit
Spam is fully cooked.
FloatingScooter@reddit
Straight out of the can is a choice, but a quick pan fry makes almost anything better. Still love the effort though.
Electronic_House2272@reddit
its another day to be single!
lelma_and_thouise@reddit
My kid and I literally cooked this together for dinner today lol. Was a hit. KD sharp cheddar though, not regular KD.
cuylart1@reddit
When I was in college I’d eat this on Tuesdays and Thursdays
TheOrderOfWhiteLotus@reddit
I’d smash that if I didn’t feel like proper cooking.
txcreative20@reddit
You might trade in your girlfriend. For one of those that has more meat on her bones. I’ve heard they can cook the best . Good luck .
Sad_Maximum6583@reddit
Would devour both no questions asked.
PS5OWESMEALIMONY@reddit
Next time she makes it,just say hey baby let me fry that spam up I like it little crsipy.
SteakAndIron@reddit
Put a ring on it
SirMy-TDog@reddit
TraditionAcademic968@reddit
Fry the spam and you got a winner
No-Pizza-517@reddit
I’m fuckn with this 12/10
actionscripted@reddit
Read this in chefreacts voice
Little_Miss-Sunshine@reddit
It’s clearly been cooked and slightly seared.
actionscripted@reddit
Yeah OP, why cap? We have eyes. The spam might not be well-rendered and the pasta might not have a luscious mornay bath but there was clearly some effort.
Tell your GF I’ll eat this 10/10 effort any day and NOT submit it to a derogatory food sub.
Impressive_Dark_3680@reddit
Leave her immediately
2_versions_of_me@reddit
My man...
Independent-Coat2744@reddit
i has something similar, ground beef and KD today
SirGergoyFriendman@reddit
The combo of a paper bowl and a plastic fork at home is crazy wasteful I still can’t believe how many people do this
Cheap_Papaya_2938@reddit
Yeah, but it definitely makes the pic complete. Wouldn’t be the same if they used a ceramic bowl and metal fork.
seamuwasadog@reddit
I mean, yeah, since Spam is technically already cooked you can eat this and it's not terrible, but it's not very good.
Chunk up the Spam, brown it for better color and flavor, add the water and boil the noodles, then build your mac&cheese (with seasoning like pepper and/or mustard powder) and you have a not at all bad meal.
For bonus points cook a bag of frozen corn or peas with the noodles and you have a complete, healthy(ish) meal.
Catlittersnackcakes@reddit
Honestly... if she'd pan fried the spam before mixing it into the Kraft dinner, that meal would probably fuck harder than it has any right to.
SeaToTheBass@reddit
KD and hot dogs is a comfort food for me. Sometimes I’ll get fancy and sauté some onions and cabbage and mix that in as well. Would recommend, the onions add flavour and the cabbage adds a bit of crunch. I like purple cabbage, but be warned. If you refrigerate it the purple will soak into the noodles and looks a bit odd.
Salt_Finger_6863@reddit
You might want to send her to some cooking classes before wifing her, sir
KaiwanQueenInYellow@reddit
Ew.
porcelain_kiss@reddit
If the spam was fried then this is a 10/10 cheap meal imo lol
BlackerDoom@reddit
Assuming she got down on one knee and popped the question Immediately (Spam and Mac is goated)
EngineeringAgile1640@reddit
My son and his fiancée make this all the time but cook the spam.
d0n0v4n98@reddit
OH LOOK YOU PUT MEAT HUNKS IN IT
Macklemore_hair@reddit
Keeper just from the spam alone even though it’s not cooked.
Griffithead@reddit
Fuck that.
If you can't be bothered to take 5 minutes and turn it into pure crack, you are a pretty shitty person.
guilty_bystander@reddit
Calm down there ringo
Calgirlleeny2@reddit
That was nice of her.
Mecha-Dave@reddit
Cool, what did you make?
mai_tai87@reddit
A plate.
SkynetLurking@reddit
She tried. She fucked yup hard, but she tried.
Am she had to do was pan fry that spam a little and this would be winner
BabySpecific2843@reddit
That Spam is cooked chef. I see that deeper red coloring on the center piece. Uncooked spam is a dull pink through and through.
Known_Resolution_428@reddit
Get a new gf
Baron-Von-Mothman@reddit
That's kind of her
Dangerous-Courage412@reddit
uncooked? welp
Appropriate-Sun834@reddit
Marry her
Repulsive_Glove6085@reddit
It’s ok you can say “prison wife” on here.
marcusw882000@reddit
You have to fry the spam otherwise it's just mushy :(
LaughingBoulder@reddit
You don't deserve her
Capable_Culture_7344@reddit
is she going to sit you down for a long talk later?
LopsidedHorror6794@reddit
You can hold this against her if you get into an argument
Curri189@reddit
Mmm sodium
Dananism@reddit
Spam SLAPS in Mac and cheese tho.
mattyboy555@reddit
Another acceptable protein is hotdog weiners or ground beef.
Otherwise pass me a plate plz
bunnytoadstool@reddit
Be grateful.
presently_pooping@reddit
Does she know you’re posting this here, and laughing along? If not..
Not_Dylan_With_It@reddit
Lucky. I have to make my own uncooked spam with kraft.
Gecko_Lvr5@reddit
Yummy, enjoy
