Anyone remember the forbidden Faces of Death VHS that circulated among friends back in the day? If you had the privilege of seeing it, you were super cool! It’s now available to watch on Tubi!

Poor monkey

My mom and I watched it back in the day. Made it halfway through and had to stop… to get big plates of spaghetti and went back to watch the rest while eating dinner. lol
Cosmohumanist@reddit
Please tell us this is a joke.
Vast-Hold6578@reddit
Nope no joke

Rented this and the first UFC tournament on the same Saturday night. There were Doritos, and Mt. Dew galore, along with Mortal Kombat on snes. What a time to be 14.
Cosmohumanist@reddit
Jesus fuck you just triggered an identical memory in me. Exact same routine with my buddies at 14
petetrerice@reddit
The ‘back room’ rentals. Our local video rental was called Couch Potato.

Yes yes yes. Exactly the same for myself . Winnipeg Manitoba

NOOOOOOO

Traces of Death was just like Faces of Death except all the death scenes are real. Early shock & gore at its finest
amiableviking@reddit
Deffo had the Traces of Death soundtracks from Nuclear Blast on CD 🤘🏻

Oooohhhhh the memories!

That shit was the rotten.com before my parents finally got a computer.
noir_serpent@reddit
Helicopter death and remember the one where the guy slow cooked himself in the bathtub?
noir_serpent@reddit
I remember renting those!! The monkey brains!

1980 here. One of my early acid experiences was dosing, then getting stuck watching one of these on vhs. I couldn’t look away. It was harrowing.

Age 15 my boyfriend treated me to a private screening. Very romantic. Probably followed by Evil Dead.

My dad got a copy of this from a coworker and we watched it as a family. I was 10.

these were horrible.. my sister rented it somehow at 13..

Nothing compared to rotten.com.

Is this where the clip “snuff films do not exi BOOM” comes from? I remember downloading that on limewire in the early 2000s
Initial-Emergency522@reddit
I feel like I was 13 or 14 when I saw it. I was even thinking the whole time.... I don't think I should be watching this haha that one is seared in my brain forever haha
bigharrycox@reddit
Oh the smell of the only place that rented this where I lived. I still remember the mix of gas station, old popcorn, and a hint of what I can only describe as roller rink carpet.
Pasadenaian@reddit
I remember a scene of people cutting up puppies? I think I tried my hardest to forget that.

A Faces of Death movie just released VOD (had limited theatrical release) about a guy that reproduces death scenes from Faces of Death.
CunnyMaggots@reddit
I couldn't watch the original movies but the one that just came out was GOOD!
username__0000@reddit
Same. I didn’t watch them (was aware of them) but my partner did and he kept wanting to watch this new one so I caved and gave it a chance.
It was a pleasant surprise.
username__0000@reddit
It’s really good! Watched it last weekend.
We watch a stupid amount of horror movies and it was one of the better ones we’ve seen this year.
It’s a movie style, not a clip show of weirdness or anything.
Warm-Comfortable501@reddit
I still have the DVD...
New_Refrigerator_895@reddit
I remember renting the 2nd or 3rd one at a local video store. I was 12. Idk if the person behind the counter didn't give a shit or didn't know

Regurt
Shortbus_Playboy@reddit
In hindsight, I probably shouldn’t have watched this when I was like, 9, lol
Jurd5@reddit (OP)
It builds character. Puts hair on your chest 😂
Silentlaughter84@reddit
I saw the second volume years ago, then I got the DVD set and watched the first one. A certain amount of the footage was real, but there were staged scenes that aren't very convincing. Traces of death is supposed to be 100% real.
Jurd5@reddit (OP)
Is Traces of death available anywhere online to watch? I’ve never heard of that one!
spinnnnnnnn@reddit
Just go scroll around the NSFL subreddit. Jeeeez...or don't 😂
Jurd5@reddit (OP)
How foolish of me lol
Silentlaughter84@reddit
It's hard to find. I looked to see if it was on Amazon, but even through second and third parties it wasn't available. It comes in volumes like Faces of death, and the one I watched featured the R. Budd Dwyer suicide and the murder of Jeffrey Doucet.
Commies-Fan@reddit
Traces of Death would like a wors.
Acceptingoptimist@reddit
Yeah we watched it. Owned the anarchists cookbook too. I wasn't even that angsty. Just 14.
revel911@reddit
I still remember some of the scenes, some were cool … some gave me nightmares.
ButterscotchAware402@reddit
My boyfriend at the time drove down to where I was going to college to visit me and surprised me with these. My amazing roommates went to dinner and a movie so we could watch it (and bang of course) without having to see it themselves.
T-Bombie@reddit
Watch this waaaaaayyyyy too young. Apparently the stoned 17 year old working at the video store didnt give a shit who rented what back in the day because my older cousin came home with this when he was like 12...lol
