Pontiac Grand Prix 2006(2008 3800) Transmission replacement?

This beautiful boat has everything N/A besides the engine with a 2008 3800 from a N/A Pontiac Grand Prix from LKQ now I’ve heard talk about the 4T65E transmission, Im objective with this car is to make it a “reliable” daily. The current transmission wasn’t treated nicely by the previous owner, soo it hard shifts when it heats up around 200-205 degrees so I think it’s time to replace the transmission some time soon but want something worth my buck & lets me do occasional high way pulls.
Opinions ?

Do a new filter and fluid.

I also agree here. I bought mine at 203k, did a fluid and filter change and added a transgo shift kit because why not, stiffened up the sloppy 1-2 shift and the 3-4. I’m currently at 286k with no issues (well, the power steering decided to start leaking recently but that’s it haha)

This.
If that doesn’t help, add some lucas transmission fix. It always surprises me how well that stuff works on gm transmissions.
If you really want to spend money then look at swapping in a 4T65HD from a supercharged grand prix or bonneville.

I'm not a FWD Pontiac guy, or a FWD guy in general, or really an automatic transmission guy, but would it really be worth the time and money? I agree, filter and fluid for an easier, cheaper option to making it a smoother daily, but I don't think a full transmission replacement would truly be worth your time. I think your time and money would go a lot further doing major tasks like that on a more fun, interesting project.

I drove an 03 or 06 grand am. The grey ghost. Shit was cool wish it didn’t grenade! I can’t remember the diagnoses but it wouldn’t start or run
