Hi. First is your house built before 1935. If not, it’s virtually guaranteed that you won’t have any structural elements below the soil. It’s possible that was a land drain for a greenhouse, or shed, it’s the right shape and I have one in mortar lined brick that leads to an underground water storage chamber, which is made of brick and is built up on a small bank. My house has a kitchen garden, which is next door to a big house, and used to be part of the estate. It’s a gravity fed watering method, uses big terracotta piping. It’s fascinating…. But as I said, you need to be in an old environment, where the land hasn’t been churned up. If you want to go exploring, use a metal rod and knock it into the ground around the area, it’s going to be obvious if you have anything substantial down there. The local council had records of what houses had a shelter, you could certainly get exploring
After watching the video and seeing the large pipe coming from the direction of the house it looks like a small room for a septic tank that has since become unused, it probably originally had a hatch for inspection.
It’s actually kind of useful for a blueberry, you can fill it up with ericaceous compost to make sure you have acidic soil for your blueberry to flourish.
Some kind of drainage system as indicated by the pipe coming in. Could be soak away - looks strange to be septic tank but could also be.
I’d note that it look as if the top is lined with concrete/something boards that may possibly contain asbestos. From the first video it seems like they are concrete asbestos boards. Be worth double checking before you go breaking them up!

It’s always the septic. Except for the odd occasion where it’s an air raid shelter.

Hollyoaks did a crossover with Brookside recently - the patio got a mention.
Now half the characters from Brookside are wandering around Hollyoaks.
neilm1000@reddit
I haven't watched Hollyoaks in years! Did they really mention the patio? Bloody hell.
ASDowntheReddithole@reddit
From memory someone mentioned working on the patio and someone else responded 'the less said about the patio the better'.
One character in Hollyoaks turned out to be Mick from Brookside living under a new name - it was wild.
neilm1000@reddit
That is mad. I wonder if Sinbad will make a reappearance, that would be class.
ASDowntheReddithole@reddit
He did! The actor had shown up in Hollyoaks as a taxi driver a few times so in the crossover they revealed that he was Sinbad.
BillWilberforce@reddit
Just say Brookside. Husband buried the wife under the patio.

Other way round, Mandy buried Trevor under the patio.

That 110mm grey pipe could perhaps indicate it's some form of soakaway. You could dig down and put a paving slab over the hole, then back fill.
Perhaps speak with the neighbour and get running some taps etc. They probably don't know of it's existence.
VL69@reddit (OP)
I would have thought something similar, but that pipe runs downhill towards the house.
It was an orchard back 100/150 years ago so yeah could soak away excess rain and then pipe any overflow down into the mains runoff by the house?

Ragnarsdad1@reddit
I was going to say that, I have mine in big plastic tubs that were left over from moving many years ago.
Considering the price of blueberries in the supermarket they are a wonderful thing to have int he garden.
