Need to know about PC

My gaming laptop recently stopped being able to run FPS games without freezing. I am looking to finally upgrade to a PC, but I have no idea what I would need. I am looking for a middle-of-the-line PC that is cost-effective and can run for like 5 years without needing to update it. To clarify for rule 4, I need to know how to build without having a drastically overpowered piece held back by the rest of my pc, therefore wasting money.

what is your budget? The standard best value, high performance PC right now is like $2400. But their are good deals on gently used PCs out there too.

lol.
At that budget I would advise a Ryzen 5 9600x with 32gb ddr5, OR a Ryzen 7 7800x3d with 16GB ddr5.
For am5 motherboard, MSI putting out the best product and value.
For gpu, get a 9070. Watch the Linus tech tips video on how to build it.
For psu, get a Superflower
