Honestly at this point I just hope it does so the world maybe starts to get their shit together. One can only dream.
GusherBrush@reddit
Yep, same. Too many people burying their heads in the sand. Things unfortunately need to get incredibly bad before people actually take action.

The problem is that those people are liable to fall for scams and/or the worst "solutions" possible, which IMO is solar geoengineering. They certainly WILL NOT alter their consumption habits.
CannyGardener@reddit
This. We will wait until the last second to do something, and then we will choose the option that requires us to change the least in our consumption habits. Solar geoengineering sounds about right. Reduce sun by 10% for 20 years, reduce energy to plants for same time, reduce crop yields by 40%, famine, reduction in population. By the time the 20 years are over, the problem is solved because so many people have died.

And when the day finally comes politicians will act surprised. Mark my words. We have run ourselves into a corner with our greed-driven economic system.

if they're not already dead yet from climate disasters, water wars, etc.

People would blame the Jews over climate change
Bruh_zil@reddit
I mean, it's like a knee-jerk reflex at this point. When weren't the Jews blamed for anything happening?

The following submission statement was provided by /u/bauernebel:
This article looks at warnings that the Pacific could be moving toward a powerful Super El Niño, with unusually high ocean temperatures potentially disrupting rainfall patterns worldwide. The main concern is not just heat, but the possible chain reaction: droughts, floods, crop failures, food-price shocks and pressure on already vulnerable regions.
How prepared are governments and global food systems for a major El Niño event if forecasts keep strengthening?
