Louisiana to Exeter, NH route question

Wondering which route you guys would recommend? For context, I'm not driving a big truck. I'm driving a Chevy 4500, no trailer. I'll be hauling two heaters with a total weight of 2500 lbs. Load is picking up at noon on Friday and doesn't have to be there until Tuesday so time really isn't an issue
Thinking about taking the 28 hr route to miss Newark since I've never been in this part of the country before. Any input or advice is appreciated.

Route 9 thru VT is not a fun time lol. To bypass NYC use 287 > 684 > 84 thru CT > 90

I say the far north one if you dont mind the smaller backroads up there. I take that whole dark blue route every other week. Damn near exact actually lol. If I wanted to dodge NYC region id go Harrisburg,PA -Scraton - Hartford, CT and onwards. In a full size semi tho. Id definitely take the chance to get off the interstate in a smaller vehicle.. See you out there this weekend

Really appreciate it. These longer trips make me nervous but also I like going places I've never been. I went to PA a couple months ago, that was a good drive. This time I might actually get to see the Atlantic for the first time in my life.

Google is bad about giving you multiple options over long trips like that. That 28 hour route bypasses Connecticut and Massachusetts but spits you out onto a little twisty two lane road for 170 miles across Vermont and New Hampshire. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, it’s just something to take into account.

Is there a better route planner that you can recommend? I’m open to other route suggestions that avoid the NYC area.

I agree with taking the 28-hour route. Fewer tolls, less bullshit from the 95 corridor, more beautiful views.
