Man you are spending so much money here for the brand name. I'll never understand why people pay this much of a premium for a lower with virtually no functional benefit over what you can buy for half the price elsewhere. Thats a lot of money for a BCM stamp IMO.
JBMT86@reddit
I can't comment on the price, sometimes it's worth spending more and sometimes it isn't. And that's up to people individually.
But my BCM Recce is noticeably smoother and more solid. When you pick it up it just feels way better than my piles of shitty PSA stuff or home builds.
I do think a lot of it comes from the BCM buffer system. I think the trigger is a pretty standard single stage that's polished I agree with a lot of what you're saying but when you put it all together it doesn't make that twang sound when you charge it which I cannot stand and everything is one piece it doesn't move it doesn't twist it doesn't vibrate it doesn't jiggle.
I've explained this before I got my BCM for a steal and I would likely never pay full price for one, though I was in here scoping out these blemished lowers because maybe I'll pick one of these up and wait on a blem upper in the future but anyway they are better.

You’re paying for tolerances, a upgraded buffer system, great trigger and proprietary furniture. If you can’t tell the difference between a BCM lower and a PSA you’re likely telling me you haven’t spent time on one or the other.
RegardedDipshit@reddit
What exactly is that trigger? Because if it's a single stage Shmid, which is what it looks like, you can buy that exact trigger from dirty bird for $30 all the time. I believe it's also the same as the EPT trigger from PSA, which is available in a ton of their built lowers.
I've used this furniture. It's fine, not great. Most mid-tier magpul and b5 furniture would be considered an upgrade to this by most. A k2+ grip is $20 and significantly better.
The buffer system is the only area I don't have a ton of personal experience with here so I'll give you that point.
I've had probably 20 different lowers and lower kits. I've compared BCM lowers to several PSA stealth lowers. There is no decreeable difference. Neither had any tolerance issues. Creep/rock between the lowers and uppers was nearly identical.
Financial-Sir-6021@reddit
PSA doesn't have free ship and charges tax, so you are probably looking at less of a price difference for this vs a MOE EPT assmebled PSA lower than you think and the MK2 buffer system is a pretty signifcant upgrade. Probably worth it to some but are paying some rollmark tax, probably aout $50 or so
RegardedDipshit@reddit
I mean we are comparing PSA non-sale prices to BCM sale prices. I'm not even saying buy a PSA built lower, although they are fine. There are tons of options out there to build a lower for around $200 that meets or exceeds this.
Financial-Sir-6021@reddit
Building off a stripped lower is a completely different ballgame that’s always going to be cheaper. You might as well post that on every prebuilt others.
RegardedDipshit@reddit
That's really not true. Just referencing PSA built lowers, you're going to have a very hard time beating their sale pricing off of a stripped lower. It's generally about equal.
ineptapostate@reddit
You are getting downvoted but everything you mentioned checks out. I purchased a similar BCM built lower before I knew better and ended up selling it a few months later. Nothing wrong with it, but there was just nothing that this did better than my significantly cheaper build. I find it ironic that the dealer here replied saying you don't know what you're talking about, but nobody has provided any specifics other than you. Nearly everyone uses the same Schmid triggers. Fully agree on the furniture point as well. It's a lot of personal preference but the k2+ is such a good grip.
paperkeyboardalt@reddit
Is this low shelf? And does it come with a tension screw for the upper?
Avery_DCD@reddit (OP)
Yes, and yes
GroundbreakingLead15@reddit
This has what is basically bcms a5 buffer system in it. It isn’t just some standard lower. I still think it’s quite expensive but it does have some upgraded stuff compared to a standard milspec lower
Co_Stang@reddit
I got one last time and it is basically flawless. I didn’t really notice any issues.
Wu_tang_dan@reddit
what weight buffer did it come with?
paperkeyboardalt@reddit
How's the trigger?
Co_Stang@reddit
Its one of the best triggers in my entire collection
FeedMeMRE@reddit
Super solid single stage. It’s basically right up at the wall, decent reset, smooth all the way through.
(If you shake the tea leaves enough, digital autists say that Schmid makes this trigger and darn near everyone sells it)[https://www.reddit.com/r/gundeals/comments/zbncxh/comment/iys24aw/]
Special-Commision824@reddit
Same for me great experience with fast shipping couldnt find the blem honestly
BigWess85@reddit
Same. This will be my 2nd one from them.
91xela@reddit
I have this. Not from these guys but the lower fucks.
quirkycogsmith@reddit
Do these have upper tension screws now?
Avery_DCD@reddit (OP)
Yes
FeedMeMRE@reddit
Darn good deal ! ! !
bkfit@reddit
Who makes these? Who’s making the parts? BCM is assembling now.
Congenital_Stirpes@reddit
I’m not saying don’t get this because it’s a good lower for a good price (and if you don’t have the tools to build an AR in your garage, this is an even better deal). But you can build out your own lower with same or similar parts for about $75 cheaper (not factoring tax or shipping)—up to you if the juice is worth the squeeze.
Embarrassed-Lie2272@reddit
As someone who hates having to assemble lowers and has had to buy oops kits (thankfully I didn’t want to be a proctologist or a heart surgeon) a complete lower is worth its weight in gold to me.
RonaldWRailgun@reddit
True. But when you factor that, nowadays, you'll pay shipping and tax on most stuff, unless you already have the parts and only need the lower, that difference might end up being a lot less than $75, I think. Unless you plan on taking your time and waiting for deals to come around, which can also be fun, of course. But if you need a good lower, ready within a relatively short time frame, this is the way to go.
Congenital_Stirpes@reddit
Totally agree. It’s close enough that you have to do the math. What would really sway it for me is if I wanted to change certain parts—like a different bolt catch or trigger—and would have to purchase and install those parts myself.
hokiemojo@reddit
Remember. On this sub, replacing a bolt catch means you have a spare now, and that is the excuse to start another build around that part!
MK12Mod0SuperSoaker@reddit
After existing on this earth for some time, I've come to the realization that a person can be provided all the tools and instruction to do something- then proceed to fuck it up anyway.
Those are one category of dudes who could use this lower. Oh and Virginia boys who didn't listen and are panic buying now.
BigWess85@reddit
Just grabbed one. Great seller. Thank you!
