When it comes to feedback that the student requires for her course, I would be making a note that she isn't professional and if you were supervising her completely then you wouldn't hire her. If you end up with more examples, feel free to email the university :) very immature for a 37 year old
No_Pea-1@reddit
It really could have been an accident. There is no need to seek revenge on this small comment, seriously.
If anything, ask her directly, OP.
Puzzled-Antelope8058@reddit
I said if there are more examples, not to contact the university off of this one.
Quiet-Pickle169@reddit
I'd go to HR and make a complaint, but I'm petty. Take no notice OP, only truly unhappy people feel the need to try and bring others down.
No_Pea-1@reddit
And make everyone else in the workplace walk around on eggshells around you?
Just grow some thicker skin
Quiet-Pickle169@reddit
Was a joke pal. Have a little snooze x
SpaceTimeCapsule89@reddit
She's a 37 year old student that has to bully people that found their way in life long before 37 years old as a defense mechanism
Ok_Bug7382@reddit
Some people have no filter. That's ok. Worrying about someone else and their comments deflects away from you. The better question to ask yourself is why am I so impacted by comments from someone who doesnt know me. Why have I allowed their words to get to me. It doesnt sound like they were being intentionally hurtful. Deep down a part of you cares what other people think. Figure out why and you will free yourself from it. I'm all about personal growth wherever possible.

They wont be laughing in 20 years time, and it soon goes way faster than id like.
Its pretty stupid to be ageist, because there is no escape from growing old.
Its not an if, well unless they die first.
No_Pea-1@reddit
Id deal with this by considering therapy for paranoia and self esteem issues.
girlsunderpressure@reddit
You could make a big deal of it and nurse your hurt feelings and carry on feeling bad and resentful and make it "a thing". Or you could brush it off as a casual remark not intended to hurt your feelings and move on with your life. Which would make you happier?
No_Pea-1@reddit
Probably just one of those things where something slips out which is taken in a way that you dont intend.
I doubt the student didn't intend to offend you if she is new. People rarely do intend to cause offence, especially when they are new to a workplace.
evenifihateit@reddit
They sound bitchy and insecure
Pity them for being the sort of people they are and think no more of it
BLightyear67@reddit
Welcome to the world of getting old. I'm 58.
a-liquid-sky@reddit
You need mental help. This is the third or fourth time I have seen this exact same post recently.
MonkeyHamlet@reddit
Ask her how her grandkids are doing?
Belsnickel7777@reddit
Wondering if the 37 year old was subconsciously trying to be down with the "yoof" by engaging in bullying in order to get into the graces of a much younger colleague ? Some people can't handle being one of the olds. People like that do exist, and it's tragic. I'm speaking as a 38 year old unc , but I own it haha
ThisShouldBeAGif@reddit
The fact that she not only said this to a colleague but then felt the need to repeat it to you says everything you need to know about that woman. Stay clear of her as much as you can and please don’t ever take anything nasty a nasty woman says to heart. She might have said it to see your reaction, to belittle you or just because she does think of other people’s feelings. None of those are a reflection on you.
Background_Ad5513@reddit
I feel like since she said it again openly maybe she didnt realise she was being rude? Like she meant to say that OP seems more mature or responsible than others that age, not that she literally looks old
One_Philosophy_6591@reddit
She's trying to undermine you. She feels insecure that she is a student at 37 and older than you. Don't let it get to you.
MossTrinkets@reddit
Its not unusual for someone at 29 to have kids. Reinterpret it as a compliment - you appear competent and knowledgeable amd more mature than your colleagues.
If they do anything similar again, smile, and mildly say "That sounded a little rude. Did you mean it to?"
If they are laughing up their sleeves at you and being bitchy, this is fantastic for putting people on the spot and taking the wind out of their sails.
AromaticVacation3077@reddit
By not saying anything and being nice back. You dealt with it well. Please don't be upset about this. It really could be that she thought you have a maturity beyond your years and it just came out the wrong way. It could also be that the younger woman gave a wrong impression of what the older woman actually said. But listen - she's 37. She was probably feeling old herself and hoping someone was as old as her!
BigGrinJesus@reddit
She sounds like a c*nt.
MidnightRambler87@reddit
I do find there is a small minority of 20-30 year olds still acting like we are back at school in the workplace, have it where I am.
You try and be nice to them and they will tear you apart for no good reason.
kyeuriuskitkat@reddit
Just sounds like a stupid person, could possibly be feeling insecure that you’re a supervisor at a younger age too, ignore them!
BDbs1@reddit
These people are simply dicks. They have made you feel shit because they are dicks.
Do not allow them to win by going over this, this is about them not you.
