In my opinion it's not necessarily about the food, more the serving dish. Plate? Knife and fork for the majority of things. Bowl? Then a spoon for most things.
Sea-Still5427@reddit
Spoon and fork or fork alone. (Or if no one's watching, spoon.)
seven-cents@reddit
You can't spoon, or fork alone, silly ;)
Muzz124@reddit
For that pasta dish I would still use a fork and a knife, the knife to push the food onto the fork.
Avox0976@reddit
Depends of the food. Case closed

I'd still use s knife and for, sometimes I barely use the knife I just seem to like the balance

Unless you're eating like a pelican, you still cut/chop it with your teeth don't you? 😅
sparklybeast@reddit
Pasta? Fork. Soup? Spoon. Sandwich? Hands.

Heathen! 😅

For the food pictured, a fork.
Spoon and chopsticks for other types of food which don't need chopping.
Also all these three for foods which do need some chopping, given spoon and fork can cut softer foods and chopsticks can be used to chop with the old mouth-bones.Â

A spoon for maximum shovelling in. I would use a fork but the jabbing of the food is just annoying to me.
jamnut@reddit
Yup, and if you've got a large soup spoon it's perfect for shoveling, not often found in the average cutlery draw though.
Otherwise a serving spoon will suffice
oscarx-ray@reddit
Picking at food and stabbing individual pieces when a spoon will shovel it into my pie hole faster is anathema to me. Efficiency is key.

Spoon and fork
Flashdash92@reddit
I'd use a fork for pasta like this. A spoon for soup.Â

Fork or chopsticks
FakeNordicAlien@reddit
I eat most things with chopsticks. I find them most versatile. Though not soup. Or ice cream.
When I’m eating with others I use whatever they offer if I’m at their house, or let them use whatever they’re comfy with if they’re at mine. I have too many decisions to make in my own life already, without worrying what utensils other people prefer.
GlitchingGecko@reddit
I don't mind using chopsticks when everything in the meal comes bitesize.
But I find it a bit gross to pick up a larger item with chopsticks, and take a bite out of it, then put it back down.
Evening-Web-3038@reddit
Does the bin count as a utensil in this instance?
Sudden_Leadership800@reddit
You eat out of your bin? 🤢
GlitchingGecko@reddit
if each individual item will fit on a spoon, spoon.
if bigger than a spoon, fork.
Ok_Aioli3897@reddit
Depends.
I still use a knife to push things onto the other utensil

Spoon
sdwvit@reddit
Fork and a spoon, or just a fork
GaryJM@reddit
If it can be eaten with a fork (e.g. pasta) then I use a fork. If it's soup or something like that then I use a spoon.
