Class consciousness cannot be reduced to a question of subjective desire or decoded flows; it is determined by the objective places agents occupy within the social division of labor, political relations of domination and the ideological relations that reproduce them. The state, as the material condensation of the relationship of forces between classes, actively organizes the power bloc while disorganizing the dominated classes through the individualizing effects of the juridico-political instance. To dissolve class into a language of intensities and molecular flows is itself an ideological effect: it displaces the pertinent question, which is always the question of state power and the political organization necessary for a class fraction to constitute itself as a distinct force within a historically specific conjuncture.
