Court removes leadership of Turkey’s main opposition party. Brings the former chairman of the party, Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu back. What do you think happens now?

Dude, Golden Dawn is in prison. Are the Grey Wolves? Is it the MHP? You have serious problems.

my wettest dream is to put them all in the same prison and let them finish each other

I used to think politics was about law, introducing bills, and maintaining order; now I know politics is about power, threats, and money. This is what the opposition lacks in Turkey: someone with a huge sack of balls. Özgür had his chance. After Ekrem was arrested, he could have incited people to take to the streets, called for a bank run, or encouraged them to throw rocks at the police, but he chickened out. In countries like Turkey, expecting a peaceful transfer of power is like believing in Cinderella.

Why aren't people in Turkey protesting? I think you are a very calm people, almost asleep.

Because Turks have a religion of the state. God manifests itself through the state, which makes institutions sacred and those who serve them its prophets and saints. And saints and prophets are not meant to be challenged; no matter how terrible the situation becomes, people believe that God works in mysterious ways. This is the legacy of 600 years of Ottoman sultanism.

Oh my my my , controlled opposition.
Erdogan indeed is a faithfull disciple of Ataturk.
8NkB8@reddit
Ataturk was authoritarian and a dictator, but he at least had democratic sympathies it would seem.

Erdogan is an authoritarian and a dictator, but he at least has democratic sympathies it seems.
Turkey's political system, for most of the last 100 years of its existence, has been a pendulum between secular nationalists and islamic nationalists. It doesn't really matter who has the democratic sympathies really.
pitogyros@reddit
Why though ?
I mean on what grounds he was removed ?
And does Kemal want his spot back ? Did he try to claim it or plans to keep it? I assume that would cause inner party disputes if so

My heart bleeds. The country became a third world one. So sad.

Erdogan4life, that's what happens.

Akin Gurlek is in no position to do this, this will go to Supreme court (anayasa mahkemesi) and they'll most likely strike this down. And CHP will expel whoever brought in by the government.
But... Gurlek's plan never was appointing a trustee. He wants to shut CHP for good. Likely by force.

Even we are processing what is happening, what people from Balkans will do with this information lol.
