Today is the day, I will be walking at commencement and graduating with my Associates Degree at the tender age of 48!
Iβm so excited and so emotional.
Congrats to everyone else who went back to school and is graduating, or graduated.
I had a bit of a rocky start, but I did it. I went back and finished.
One degree down, and more to go!
I had a patient tell me, age is just a number. She went back to school and graduated at 77 years old with a bachelors!
Congrats everyone!!! β€οΈβ€οΈπ©π»βππ©π»βπππ

It's not the length of the journey that matters, but the fact that you completed it.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Keep going, you've got this!
I did the same thing, and I went into my Associates with so many nerves (what if I fail? what if I suck at this? what if I can't do it???)... but I'll tell you, you've built skills, knowledge, and self-discipline over the years that you would not believe. I got my Masters a couple of years ago, and I still smile every time I see that diploma on the wall.

28 Associates Degree
42 Bachelors Degree
So many schools! So many majors! So many freaking credits!
I started as a political science major in '86. We focused our studies on the Soviet Union. Upon preparation of my retirement of college in 2010, I was getting too disabled for a meaningful career so I just went with the quickest to graduate major. I ended up with a double major/double minor. One of the majors was back to the beginning and political science. Yeah, the young adults i retired, they graduated with had no idea about any of the stuff that was so important back then. Registering for classes is a freaking pleasure. Students are missing out with so much online. Sitting in a library focused on a single thing is a pleasure they rob themselves. Oops, I'm old and starting to yell at clouds.
Congratulations!!!!!

My mom graduated at 40 after having 6 children. Once we were all in school and she had the days to herself she went to college full-time. The cool thing is she graduated in the same class as my oldest sister. They did a write up about in our local newspaper. This was 1977 or 78. So it was a rare thing at that time.
MangocartNwings@reddit (OP)
How great! Yes, my two college daughters, we three were supposed to graduate and walk together but they changed their majors and will graduate next year. I didnβt want to walk without them, but they encouraged me to.
TootieSummers@reddit

This is awesome news! Congratulations on your huge accomplishment, and best wishes for the future. I often had students who were in their 70s, and so many students in their 50s and 60s that it wasnβt even notable. (And quite often, they were my best students.)
