Skyscanner showing more flights than the airline?

Hi! Im currently trying to book a flight and when I go through Skyscanner theres several seats, but on the airline website theres only one. Should I not risk it, or is this because there are some set aside for affiliate links?

That usually happens because third-party sites are slow to update, so Skyscanner is probably showing ghost inventory that's already sold out. If the airline itself says there's only one seat left, trust the airline. Trying to book multiple seats through an affiliate link when they don't actually exist is a massive headache waiting to happen.

I’ve seen this happen a lot when searching flights for trips. Sometimes Skyscanner is just lagging behind the airline’s actual inventory, especially if seats are disappearing fast. I usually trust the airline site more because that’s the real time source.
A couple of times, I tried booking through a third party after seeing available seats and got the awkward sorry, fare no longer available email a few hours later. Super annoying when you already mentally planned the trip and dinner stopovers in your head.

Sometimes different OTAs can have different bucket availability, yeah. Or the OTA doesn't have live data, and if you go to actually book it, it will fail/price will jump.

Are you trying to book multiple seats? Why not just book the available seat that you’re seeing straight through the airline’s website?

Im booking for myself and one other person!

Gotcha. In that case I would call the airline and ask.
