Can both a wheel bearing and a bad drive shaft cause humming when driving?

Hi, I have a mk5 vw golf at around 90000k miles
Been hearing a humming coming from the car that gets louder the faster it goes, even when out of gear.
I jacked it up and checked each wheel and couldn’t feel any play but when I would spin my passenger front wheel I would hear a clunking noise come from the drive shaft. Would a dodgy wheel bearing cause this?
Any comments would be appreciated

How old is your clutch? I bought a car once that I was convinced was going to need a new drive shaft. Needed a clutch anyway so I did that and magically my driveline vibrations were fixed.

The clutch was changed about 10000 miles ago. It’s relatively new

Typically wheel bearings growl/whine and it changes with speed and direction. As you turn the wheel the weight of the car shifting on the bearing makes the sound change. Can you get back under the car and grab the CV shaft (drive shaft is between the transmission and differential)? If you can make it telescope a little that's ok, but if it's got rotational slop or if you can move the shaft perpendicular to the joints it's done.
Usually when a CV joint goes bad you REALLY hear it at low speed at high steering angles, like in a parking lot. The high misalignment makes the excess wear obvious.
