Budget Commuter Bike for Healthcare Provider

Howdy All! I am starting a new job as a RN at the hospital about 2 miles from my house. Upsides, low commute time. Downside, parking my Chevy 1500 is a nightmare.... and gas is now almost $5 a gallon here.
So I thought about biking. But it's been over 100F here for a week, and I realized that showing up to shift dripping and drenched in sweat is not a good look.
So I thought about an eBike. I've tried to do my research but I just don't understand the words. I get basic bike stuff, and I understand that I want a Class 2 (so I can go uphill before shift on battery completely - if I understand it; then cycle downhill home after).
There is one (1) bike rack with 5 whole slots. It's not secured to the ground in anyway, so I'm thinking of taking the bike up to the unit and storing it in the break room (manager willing).
I've been off work for a few months as I had a few procedures, but am "able and capable". I weigh about 230lb and am 6' tall. The roads aren't great (lots of potholes per linear foot) so I'm thinking I need something that's rated for "off roading" due to the rough conditions.
My budget is going to top out at around $1.5K, and even that's pushing it. Less than $1K would be much better, but I've seen a lot of "suspiciously cheap" units on Facebook MP, Amazon, eBay, and other outlets.
Can someone help guide me to some options that are solid and sound?

For only two miles you could consider a scooter. Something like the Segway ninebot max g3. I assume you are in the U.S. bc Chevrolet 1500, and here it can do up to 28mph, (I usually cap mine at 28mph). It weighs 54 lbs, but it would be easier to roll into a building and will take up less space with the stem / handlebars folded down. Has a bright headlight. I am similarly sized and the deck will sit you well. Runs $1100 currently, and can be purchased at Best Buy. I often commute 7.5 miles one way on mine.
I have a class 1 e-bike as well, and e-bikes are great too.

Find a local bike shop with ebikes and buy one there. You’ll get a better deal online, but you’ll be SOL if anything goes wrong and you can’t find anyone to work on it.
For what it’s worth, unless your hills are crazy or you’re really out of shape, a class 1 bike is probably sufficient. I ride a class 1 and if I have it at level 5 assist, a slight pedal makes me go zoom.

I think encouraging them to go the local bike shop route is such good advice. Having a resource they can turn to should something go wrong is so valuable!

Velotric Tempo only weighs 39lbs with battery or 34 without so could bring in easier. Feels much more like a regular bike. Cost was $1499 and they may have discounts for nurses.
I would go and test out some bikes as you may be surprised what you actually like or could see yourself riding. I have ridden mine 75 miles for recreation in past 2 weeks and love it. Mostly paved trails but some gravel and bumpy roads which have been fine

Exactly what I was going to say.
