The problem is we have a death feedback loop now. The Google Search "algorithm" decides what does and does not get to the top of the results. So the Writing Clanker (which may be google gemini) writes what the search algorithm wants, and the search algorithm sees people clicking clanker-slop and so prioritizes clanker-slop.

AI-generated tiles.
Most smaller (not major outlet) sites are letting AI create the "tile" view for articles now to save on payroll. I've noticed it's the worst with travel sites, and sites that aren't actual "news" sites, who don't have a media team.
If you swipe right on your phone to get to the Google or Apple news section, you'll see a ton of this. The ads on those feeds are probably 90% AI now, the articles around 25%. And there are some hilarious results, like this one. I'm sure the site had an article about the correct scorpion, but AI saw "scorpion" and grabbed a 61 image.
It's the same AI that generates crappy tiles for things like YT.
You can get rid of most of the AI tiles in Google and Apple news feeds by having adguard handle DNS on your phone.

Yeah. That’s pretty much happening everywhere at this point. Even restaurants. It’s just wild shit, and I can’t wait for AI to blow up in people’s faces. Lol
