Should i upgrade entire pc?

I play mostly story games on 1440p and want a little more frames for a smoother experience.
I currently have a Ryzen 5 5600 paired with a rx 6700xt 12gb and 16gb (2x8gb) 3200MHz DDR4 ram
I have been looking at the 9070 but stumped on whether I should stay on am4 and get a new cpu or upgrade to am5
Note: i recently bought a 1000w psu since my old one stopped working and wanted to future proof the psu
Thanks for any responds đ

Soooo...that is the premise here? What games are you talking about and what kind of settings do you tareget? Is RT/PT a thing? Do you use upscaling like DLSS/FSR?

Sorry for not being precise enough. I want to play at high/ultra settings with 100 fps generally on games like rdr2, cyberpunk etc. Iâve been playing subnautica 2 early access and hitting around 50-60 fps on high settings and want to be able to play at ultra with 100+. I donât care for ray-tracing and upscaling.

It's kind of game to game dependent. RDR2 you probably will be fine, but 100 fps at 1440p ultra setting might be a bit out of reach without FSR. CBP2077 could be a bit of an issue with the 5600x though, as that game is very cpu intense in the crowded parts of the map. You very possibly will encounter some level of cpu bottleneck there, although with RT/PT the game is generally easy to run with powerful modern hardware. Subnautica 2 i have no idea, since i know basically nothing about that game.

I kinda figured from what I have researched that my cpu needs to be replaced. Would you recommend spending money on the gpu then upgrading cpu after or cpu first then gpu? What would give me the biggest performance boost?
According_Spare7788@reddit
Yeah. Do the GPU upgrade first. I always recommend doing that. If you find that CPU not enough (which based on my experience it's quite possible), then do a platform upgrade.

Thank you so much for the advice and recommendation I appreciate it a lotđ Itâs still a lot of money but will probably go that route. Again thanks for the advice

Youâd likely see a significant jump in performance. I donât think you need to upgrade your entire rig. Here is a video with some benchmarks with a 9070 and a ryzen 5600.

You could look at a CPU upgrade down the road, but if those benchmarks are better than what you are getting now youâll probably be fine for the next few years.

Im getting around 50-60 less fps then the video. Is that a good price to performance ratio?
