32/50 it will be a cold day in hell before I recognize anything but unrelenting positivity for Missouri.

This is our newest unrelenting positivity post.
The state in question is the great state of Missouri.
To all our foreign friends give a shout ask questions send praise. To our Americans do the same.
Ask questions, share stories, make jokes. Just remember not to be a jerk.
Recall the famous phrase my grandma invented “if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything that isn’t redemptively funny.”
Stay tuned for 33/50 after this one.
The states are in random order based on my whim at the moment. Today’s whim is Mark Twain.

The rivers are great. A lot of people from St Louis assume that recreational water in Missouri just means Lake of the Ozarks and Table Rock. But the whole southern half of the state has so many gorgeous, clear, gravel-bottomed rivers. All sizes. Infinite fishing. Everything from floating to power-boating. They're amazing.
jimmythevip@reddit
Anyone who mentions BBQ and St. Louis in the same sentence in the Missouri thread is going to get downvoted to hell. Everyone knows Kansas City is the BBQ city.
amazingtaters@reddit
They have the cut St. Louis Style ribs, which isn't the same as having a style. People confusing St. Louis for a BBQ city are missing the real gems of St. Louis food. Toasted ravioli, gooey butter cake, pork steak, and Ted Drewes frozen custard. And St. Louis style pizza if you're depraved.

Busch Stadium looks like a lovely park for a ballgame, hope to get down there sometime
amazingtaters@reddit
New Busch is a nice park, but if you can get over to Kauffman before the Royals move the the new downtown park do that first. While it doesn't have the best vistas beyond the outfield and the sports complex isn't particularly close to anything the K is still one of the best stadiums in the MLB.
KaleidoscopeRich5137@reddit
It’s incredible. Why every ballpark in America doesn’t overlook the downtown will never make sense to me

I thought the gayest arch would be a tourist trap and disappointing. It is not on both counts.
It is cool as fuck.
Sinrus@reddit
Fun fact: Gateway Arch is a designated National Park. It's by far the smallest in the system at less than 2% the size of the next one up.
CupBeEmpty@reddit (OP)
Yup. No idea how that happened seems like it should be a National Monument or Historic Site. But whatever, NPS is managing it either way.
inbigtreble30@reddit
The City Musem and the St. Louis Zoo are absolutely worth the trip.
PromiseThomas@reddit
The St. Louis Art Museum is pretty wonderful as well.
inbigtreble30@reddit
Ooh I've only ever been in town when watching the nieces & nephews so I haven't been there yet, but I'll definitely put it on the list. I really enjoyed the Science Center as well but they had a big traveling exhibit at the time so I'm not sure what it's like normally.
PretzelAlley@reddit
Land of the Big Red Apple! As a kid I loved the Little House books and Missouri was where Laura and her family finally caught a break.
PANIC_EXCEPTION@reddit
Nice football team. Fuck them, but nice football team.
An8thOfFeanor@reddit
I fucking love my state and I'll love it until the day I die.
jimmythevip@reddit
You can pretty much do whatever you want in Missouri. There’s hardly any laws about anything: fireworks, guns, cars, etc.
An8thOfFeanor@reddit
Fucking BASED
I_Am_No_One_123@reddit
Except the law legalizing cannabis. Voters approved it only to have the R’s overturn it.
haykenbacon@reddit
Do you have a source for this? I am tracking that recreational use is not affected, but there was a change that cleared up the sales of gray-area intoxicating hemp products that was occurring outside of the dispensaries.
Enge712@reddit
I’m not sure now, but I moved there from Indiana 15 or so years ago and was shocked I had to get a vehicle inspection and take a class to hunt or concealed carry.
haykenbacon@reddit
Indiana requires hunting safety class for all born after 1986. Missouri has had constitutional carry (no class) for the last 9 years.
CupBeEmpty@reddit (OP)
Ha I moved from Indiana to RI and didn’t register in RI for a long time. I finally did. They gave me all my paperwork and sent me on my way.
No one said anything about inspection so I didn’t do it or even think of doing it. I got pulled over for speeding. Cop let me off for the speeding but told me he was writing me up for inspection but if o got it done in 60 days there would be no fine.
I had no idea I even needed to do that and I told him so. He said “well they should have told you when you registered your car.” They didn’t.
Thanks based RI DMV I still hate you forever.
jimmythevip@reddit
Similar thing happened to me in Virginia. Nobody told me at the DMV that I had to get car inspected. It was only after my friends noticed that I did it.
Also, what’s the deal with carrying around registration papers in your glove box? I have a non-expired license plate, so clearly my car is registered. Missouri wins again.
jimmythevip@reddit
I went from Missouri to Virginia and they’ve got a lot of rules here. Much more frequent vehicle inspections, garage fees, smog testing. In MO you only have to do an inspection if your car is 7 years old or something.
Plus for better or worse, there’s a law that the state can’t collect more taxes than it did in 1989 (I think year is right) or they have to give it back.
bandit1206@reddit
And it’s GLORIOUS!!!

The City Museum is pretty dope. As is Silver Dollar City.
On the subject, a young Chappell Roan once starred in a Silver Dollar City commercial (for the water park): IG Link to video.
Soggy-Attempt@reddit
That cave is amazing
CupBeEmpty@reddit (OP)
Haha I’ll have to pas that along to my daughter she loves Chappell… I don’t get it but I’m a zesty unc according to her friend

Missouri, home to the Kansas City Royals.

The Missouri Botanical Garden in St Louis is just wonderful.
Also the Arch is much more impressive in person than I had expected.

I’ve heard that Bay St Louis is a beautiful little town that has some nice breweries and nicer weather.
PokeCaptain@reddit
One of my best friends went there for college and never left, so they must be doing something right out there
GhostOfJamesStrang@reddit
St. Louis BBQ ribs are my favorite.
I love all sorts of BBQ and travel the country trying to experience them all and have the various specialties.
I will always come back to St. Louis for ribs.
hawffield@reddit
I didn’t really go to amusement parks or even fairs really growing up so going to Silver Dollar City was pretty neat.
heavyeyeballs@reddit
As a massive fan of Mark Twain and St. Louis BBQ, I will gladly defend the great state of Missouri until the end of time!
sorryimgay@reddit
Brick River Cider Co. has the best hard apple cider I've ever had. That's the first thing I'm getting whenever I return there one day.
LadySilvie@reddit
The Ozarks are beautiful. I grew up around KC and the difference in environment between the northern and southern landscapes is amazing.
People from other states also usually react with surprise when I talk about the caves. Just random holes in the ground everywhere you turn, and they can be beautiful, too.
The rivers are incredible. My personal favorites are the Current and Jacks Fork. Crystal clear water from cold springs, caves off to the side. I grew up camping out of a kayak on the Current River, and those are some of my favorite memories.
Most Missourians are pretty proud of the conservation we have here. We get a free magazine from the department of conservation, have tons of forests, rivers, caves, lakes, etc. I've never lives in another state to compare it to, but my outdoorsy relatives from other states have said MO does a better job than many.
rayybloodypurchase@reddit
I grew up in northeast MO and while I don’t live there now, I really have grown to realize it is a very interesting state!! It’s got pockets where the culture is very southern, pockets where it’s more midwestern, 2 pretty nice cities that residents are proud to live in, at least 1 great classic college town, and it’s got a lot of really beautiful scenery to offer throughout the state.
TehLoneWanderer101@reddit
KCMO is dope. I went last year and had a great time. Great food. Great museums. Dope vibe. Kinda wanna go back.
iowaman79@reddit
My uncle had a house on Table Rock Lake and I recall the area being beautiful, also they serve as the buffer between us and Arkansas
