Accountant looking for first opportunity in the Netherlands

Hi everyone,
I live in the Netherlands and my accounting degree has been recognized at HBO level.
I have previous accounting experience from my home country and basic knowledge of Exact Online.
Languages: Dutch B1 (improving) English A2
I’m currently looking for an internship, traineeship, volunteer work, or junior accounting opportunity to gain Dutch work experience.
If anyone has advice or guidance, I would really appreciate it.
Thank you!

B1 dutch with HBO-accredited accounting puts you in a much better position than you might think, especially since the dutch accounting market specifically has a shortage of mid-level talent who can actually work in dutch. accountancy is one of the few niches where dutch language is genuinely required day-to-day, so your B1 is actively valued.
routes that work for first NL accounting roles: go to NBA-NOAB website to see all member offices. small to mid-size accountantskantoren are way more willing to hire B1 dutch than big-4. randstad financial, page personnel finance, and walters people specialize in junior accounting placements with internships/traineeships specifically. avoid the big monsterboard/indeed listings, your CV will compete with native speakers there.
Exact Online basics is solid, but exact globe and twinfield are also widely used. if you have time, do the free exact online certified user course so you can put it on your CV. it takes maybe a week.
one tactical thing: dutch accounting offices often hire through "stage" (internship) programs that convert to junior roles. apply explicitly for the stage rather than for full position. your A2 english doesnt block this, dutch-speaking accounting offices dont need much english.
