What's the going rate for the tooth fairy?

So my daughter finally lost her first tooth, so we got the tooth fairy on the phone and she's paying a visit tonight! My wife and I have struggled to decide what the going rate is. We've come to an agreement for £5, but feel that's rather expensive, yet don't want to under do it because these days you can barely get anything for a pound or two. Growing up it was always a pound under the pillow for us both, as I'm sure it was for a lot of folks. What did you give?

During my childhood it ranged anywhere from 50p-£2 depending on what change my mum had lol. I work in a school and I’ve not heard of anyone giving £5 to a child for a single tooth. Maybe more if it was traumatic like teeth got knocked out and there was a hospital trip. Or had to have a tooth extracted. But for regular wobbly teeth I think no more than £2. They can use it to learn how to save!

My kids are teens now, so their tooth-losing phase has been over for a few years, but we went with £2. Once the first tooth has come out, those little buggers seem to fall out on a shockingly regular basis, so whatever you choose to go with, be aware you might have multiples in a month 🤣

5 gold coins! Some well off fairies may well visit other kids, but our fairies are fair imo. I’ve heard in the playground of the occasional £15 being delivered, but they must have good teeth or something.

First tooth was £10 because I was woefully unprepared. She had to put £6 into savings though. Now it's £5 with the same rules. £2.50 minimum into her savings account.

Before her first tooth came out my daughter told us that at school her friend said that the tooth fairy gives £5 for the first one and then £1 after that, so we stuck with it as it seemed reasonable and made it seem like there was just one local tooth fairy treating her the same as her pals, haha!
