If it’s cheap and reliable, it’s not semi auto. If it’s semi auto and reliable, it’s not cheap. And if it’s cheap and semi auto, it’s not reliable.

I spent less than $400 on my MAC 1014 and in over 200 semiauto rounds of almost exclusively cheap bargain-bin ammo, it hasn't hiccupped even once.
So which of those three are you saying isn't true?
cltnthecultist@reddit
I'm genuinely glad you got a decent gun, but a sample size of one gun with 200 rounds on it isn't enough to convince me that the overall QC on Turkish semi-autos (or really any Turkish gun that isn't a Canik) is trustworthy enough to count on, at least not yet. I didn't mean anything insulting by it, just a generally accepted rule of thumb when it comes to shotguns.

I know "Turkshit" is a meme for good reason, but just it's not true across the board like it used to be. Like Canik, they used to be considered Turkshit with their CZ clones, then they did their own version of the PDP (TP9) and got everyone's attention, and have been killing it more recently with the Metes and Rivals. And Stoeger semis have been all over competitive shooting for many years, and they're Turkish.
So yeah you can still get a Panzer or one of those AR pattern shotguns from Turkey that are absolute garbage, but like I said go look up the MAC 1014 here and on Youtube -- they're actually good.

When we collectively identify ONE SPECIFIC TURKISH BRAND like Canik that we can actually trust with shotguns, I'll give them a try.
Until then, they're range toy category.
mpsteidle@reddit
Stoeger, Mossberg, Winchester. There's plenty that source from turkey.
M11Nine@reddit
How about MKE and all their mp5 clones? Those are Turkish and extremely solid.
Tyrfaust@reddit
I ran an entire case of ammo through my AP-5 with only the lube already on it when I opened the box and the only failures I had were because of the mags.
Econolife-350@reddit
Stoeger. Easily.
Embarrassed-Lie2272@reddit
That would be Stoeger

I have the 1014 too and I like it a lot. I also have a 1301 and A300 and the 1014 keeps up with them.

MAC is the shotgun that Agency Arms partnered with to use as their base shotgun, and then add AA customization to.
Sage Dynamics has reviewed multiple MAC shotguns with 1k+ rounds each and approves of them.
I've shot ~500 through mine, works great.
Friend of mine has SBS'd his and ran over 1,000 rounds.
There are many more very positive reviews of MAC shotguns from a lot of sources.
Kakashi-dono@reddit
I have 250 rounds through mine. Only got 1 FTE on cheap Walmart birdshot. I didn’t lube or clean it, straight out of the box. So far so good. With buckshot, it runs like a champ.

Reposted due to a mistake in the title.
This is a Turkish clone of the Benelli M2, a newer model released by MAC late last year. Their other model is the 1014, which is a clone of the M4 -- and you should search "MAC 1014" on this sub (and/or Youtube reviews) to see what everyone says about them. It's 90%+ of the gun for 1/5th the price, and takes all Benelli parts and upgrades. I have one with the black finish and walnut furniture: https://i.imgur.com/rQTSQ8W.jpeg
The first 100 rounds I put through it were the cheapest low-brass target loads I could find, and it malfunctioned a total of zero times. Looks great, shoots great, feels great to both the hand and wallet.
This is the M2 clone, so it's a more basic inertia recoil system instead of the gas system of the M4, but I would be very surprised if it didn't run equally flawlessly.

What’s the 10% you don’t get with this vs the M4?
theoriginalharbinger@reddit
You have to DIY a proper-length mag tube (the M4 clones are neutered from the factory), which involves dealing with the copious amount of epoxy.\
Fit and finish is the rest of it. The metallurgy is less consistent, the fit is worse. Best-case you end up with slightly grittier movement in the gun; worse case various bits erode and/or peen and then fail before their time.
I have an M4 clone, and it's neat, but there are noticeable differences between it and a real M4.

Quality control, fit and finish, and I'm not sure if these MAC guns have a warranty.
BunkWunkus@reddit (OP)
I haven't been hands-on with an M4 (or M2) in a very long time, so I don't have any direct anecdotes to share, but from reading about it, it seems to be the typical fit and finish notes. Like a seam between wood and metal not being perfect, or a knick on the finish somewhere from handling at the factory, etc.
Personally I don't get nit-picking about that sort of thing, after all guns are tools that are meant to be used hard, so I have absolutely zero complaints whatsoever about mine. But I'm also not going to do the "just as good" meme when I know some people care about that.

not that James "Jim-shorts" Reeves is the ultimate authority, but did one of these ever pass his burndown test?

I think the viewers even badgered him into giving them a second chance ala the posters here "It's basically the same gun more or less"
And it still shit the bed after moderate to heavy use.

"I only shoot with Benelli"
I worked with this guy for 3 years. He loved to show off, and hes even more of a douche than you would guess.
Fearless-Jeweler-318@reddit
There's an ocean of difference between being a snob about only shooting expensive guns because they're expensive and buying turkish and coping that its the exact same thing. I own an m3 and m2 and while neither are my favorite shotguns I would not trade either for a Turkshit + cash
SmoothSlavperator@reddit
They get shit on a lot and they do have some QC and durability problems but at $350 for a range toy, as long as you don't put a bunch of 3" through em, they're fine. If something breaks, they take OEM Benelli parts anyway. You can replace an extractor or whatever and still be ahead of the game price wise.
...I just wouldn't use it for critical use. Don't need shit breaking if you're getting shot at.
StickersBillStickers@reddit
Pair that with this and you’re golden
