What do yall think of when you hear Dad Car?

Kind off a simular question to the mom car but for dads.

I can not be convinced there is a better car for a dad. Some of them even have a roll up window between the front and back seat.

Suburban. Official vehicle of scout leaders.

03-04 Honda Pilot. My dad had 2 of em đ Heâs 6â8â and doesnât fit in a lot of cars- he had to cut the sun visor out of Ridgeline when he finally upgraded in 2017 lolol (yes he sat in the driveway with a hand saw and threw it away bc âitâs my car and I can do what I want with itâ)

Depends on what kind of dad, but:
Honda Element/Ridgeline is the white New Balance of cars.
Old-guy64@reddit
Any decent four door vehicle. Cause, we are not getting out to fold the seat forward for you to get in the back.
For dads 40 and under, itâll probably be a semi-sporty sedan. Cause I still want to have a âfastâ car. Think Lincoln MKZ, V6 Camry/Accord, 5-series Bimmer probably in black, dark blue, or white.
At about 45, that will become the SUV analog of the above mentioned sedan.
Cause now I donât want to fall in and climb out. And room for golf clubs, bags of mulch, luggage for trips. Strollers for the grands, and grudgingly, a car seat. And the only person that can bring food that leaves crumbs or is sticky, will be the person occupying that car seat.

So much is based on where you live and what "type" of dad you are, but this seems like the correct answer.
I live in suburbia, LOTS of crew cabs... I have kids that play hockey, lots of crew cabs in the rink lots as well.
I can haul stuff for home projects, camping, paddleboards/lake days, hockey equipment...
My dad had an extended cab truck 45+ years ago when I was growing up. I've had one for like the past 10 years.

30-40 years old between 2000 and 2015 to give a specific range

Lot of cool dads in that range driving around in a subaru wagon or suv.Â
Possible-Cicada-9662@reddit (OP)
Thats what I was thinking because my Dad drove a 2nd or 3rd gen outback before needing to sell it. But I wanted to see what others thought off

Back then, Jeep grand Cherokee. A friend of mine got one in the early 2000s because she didnât want to have a minivan âlike all the soccer moms.â
Most of them were dark green for some reason.
Hers at the time she told me that was parked next to a maroon one, but there was another green one just like it in the same parking lot. Which was at our kidsâ soccer game.
Any other SUV would stand in for that over the years. Today, itâs either another SUV (probably a RAV4 or an explorer) or a short bed extended cab pickup truck, like a tundra.

Maserati Ghibli. My Dad (83yo) has one and I've since noticed that only Boomers seem to drive them here (Western Australia).
allbsallthetime@reddit
My dad worked for Ford, the first car I remember riding in was a Ford Country Squire but dad had a '67 Thunderbird.
After that it was always Lincoln Town Cars until he got old and a mini van was easier for him to get in and out of.
So for me it's always gonna be Lincoln.
For our daughter, dad car probably means mini van because that's all we owned as she was growing up.
Naive-Variation-6677@reddit
I was convinced by my father to buy a 99 Ford Contour as my first car and it was definitely a dad car.
lunchbox651@reddit
This is the first time I've ever heard that term.
First thought was a Corvette but then maybe a Holden VK Commodore would be more in-line with what I'd expect dads I know to actually own. Corvettes are very uncommon here.
samit2heck@reddit
My dad had a valiant safari wagon.

Thank you thank you. We never had commodores but mum had a GTR SUV Torana, Gemini then VS Statesman and dad also had a HK Monaro. Definitely done bogan genetics happening.
lunchbox651@reddit
Damn the best I had was my mum had a VN Commodore. We just had cheap shit boxes.
samit2heck@reddit
Helps when dad builds them himself. We would have had fuck all of we had to buy them new or finished. The VN is a classic now!

Nowadays it is a crew cab full size truck.

My god I'm glad I didn't have a "dad" car, and not sure what I would consider one.
When my kids were young, I decided a Corvette wouldn't be practical, so I got a Mitsubishi Evo X instead as it had 4 doors and a back seat. The fun car was a little red Pontiac Solstice GXP.
Mostly drive a F150 Lightning now, but still have the Evo and convertible
