this is like watching boku no pico and concluding all anime is ass
StormOfFatRichards@reddit
Sorry, should have watched "I Got Reincarnated As An Office Worker and Now I Badly Want To Fuck My Bully Sister"
World_Treason@reddit
You know the anime gonna suck ass with stupid titles like that
Everyone praising I got reincarnated as a slime as some amazing piece of work
Watched it, it’s literally just another generic OP MC in fantasy land BUT WE ARE GETTING ALONG NOWS
Like Jesus if that is considered top tier now it’s been pretty bad lately then
Ozuge@reddit
And is there like, a lore reason you're not watching actually praised shows like Frieren? The seasonal isekai slop comes and goes.
Danijay2@reddit
You say that while Reincarnated as a Slime is literally higher rated than Frieren across many websites. SMH.
Ozuge@reddit
Frieren is literally #1 on MyAnimeList, which is the only site that matters when it comes to this sort of thing.
Danijay2@reddit
Bro is just straight up lying and thought we wouldn't know. LMAO. That's so embarrassing. It would have literally taken you one Google search to know that you are wrong.
HiTekLoLyfe@reddit
Everytime I see one of those types of titles I stay away
I_had_the_Lasagna@reddit
I mean yea absolutely with a name like that it's gotta be top quality entertainment
awolkriblo@reddit
Correct. 99% of anime is ass.
Danijay2@reddit
No joke, at least half of it is genuinely ass. Like 50%. Then there are about 49% that are so painfully average that it's not really worth watching. And only about 1% is actually art.
AbIaZoLUTEMadMaN28@reddit
All. Weebs are less than human.
Swinn_likes_Sakkyun@reddit
99% of any medium is ass that’s how shit works, for every lord of the rings you’ve got 5000 twilights
infinityeunique@reddit
Naaaaah, you cant be serious... Everyone knows that ecchi harem slop where a male MC for some inexplicable reason meets like 10 girls with brightly colored hair, who all want to be with him despite him not having any appeal whatsoever (neither physical nor personal) and constantly get into situations that involve eroticism with him is TOP NOTCH entertainment. And that it is how people act in real life and you should take it seriously and project it onto the world you live in as a reasonable expectation and get upset when the real world doesnt fit it 100%
awolkriblo@reddit
But there are 3 Lord of the Rings movies and 4 Twilight movies. Are you stupid?
Swinn_likes_Sakkyun@reddit
was actually talking about the books but I guess it works for the movies too
Bloodhoven_aka_Loner@reddit
there still are 3 LotR books, though
DarthScotchy@reddit
ehh not really, its just the one book that was published in 3 pieces
H20-Daddyo@reddit

wildey@reddit
Even without watching Yougetsu NoBitches, That is a safe conclusion to make if you value your time
Ok_Savings9611@reddit
Unironically true.
saketho@reddit
Ice Cube made the argument that the same people that own prisons also own the labels, and they’re the ones who push gangster rap over love songs.
gillababe@reddit
It reminds me of the way Syd Barret from Pink Floyd was treated by producers. Use, abuse, and throw away.
ArmorGyarados@reddit
I read that as "use, abuse" at first not "use, abuse" and they still rhymed
onarainyafternoon@reddit
You definitely don’t listen to rap then
projectsukyomi@reddit
Its good he doesnt we all need less white people giving their opinions on rap 🙏🏾

jamiebob555@reddit
Ha! I don't think all black music is about murder my G
PGSylphir@reddit
The inverse is unironically this
timmyx2times@reddit
Exactly. For reference, the comment right under this.
jamiebob555@reddit
Still can't deny that black rap is mainly about gangs killing people.
Bring back blues and Jazz!
timmyx2times@reddit
Are you 12?
jamiebob555@reddit
12 inches!! Hahahaha
... Yes, definitely have the maturity of a 12 year old
Ducky_Mcgee@reddit
Where did blue and jazz go? Also, plenty of white people make blues, jazz, and rap. Music is music. Educate yourself.
TheMorbidHobo@reddit
Yeah, pretty much. The message is fine though, so definitely better than rap.

Horus_Whistler@reddit
I used to think like that. Then I listened to gangstas paradise and realized I don't know shit about the struggle
wolf96781@reddit
Hot take, neither do most rappers nowadays. They just like to act like they do, like cosplaying.
You see the same thing in a lot of new country singers. They wanna act like they're part of that world, but they aren't, and it shows
mrstorydude@reddit
I think you’ve been listening to a lot of 2010s rappers and thinking that’s present day.
The only rappers I can think of off the top of my mind that’s huge at this point who do gangster rap but have never touched that life are Drake and Lil Tecca.
And Lil Tecca is funny asf when he admits he just be lying all the time so it’s really only 1 case that matters.
Raphcore@reddit
Listening to JID is crazy, he's a great storyteller.
I'd also add Maxo Kream to this list. Dude's about that life.
cohonka@reddit
JID is so good. Great voice and great lyrics and interesting song structure.
Solar_RaVen@reddit
Most bigots assume all HipHop is Gangster Rap, most gangster rap is from the 90's and 2000's
A lot of rappers are what I call "Glam Rappers" where they usually write about money, bitches, and product placements.
Then you have genuine Hip-Hop Rappers, like Kedrick or J-Cole who tend to think more critically about what they put out.
TheSecretLifeOfArai@reddit
Lil uzis gang ties??? Lmao

mrstorydude@reddit
From what I’m aware of there’s like a random small time gang that does claim him and some of his high school mates did say he was in it doing… something. Honestly it wasn’t a big point in his life and that’s why I say he undershoots those ties because he just never talks about such a small thing that he was doing.
Uri_BaBa@reddit
No fucking way you called uzi and yeat rappers with gangsta ties
mrstorydude@reddit
I said Uzi undershoots his gangster ties I didn’t say he has strong ones. And I excluded yeat from the “undershooting” category to imply he has no ties whatsoever.
sculksensor@reddit
Yeat obviously has gangsta ties he's with mossad
VyrenQ@reddit
Lmao
champdude17@reddit
I mean NWA weren't gangsters either besides Eazy E. Sure, they were in the area and probably saw some stuff, but Ice Cube rapping about how he's a hardened thug who kills people is all bullshit.
Mental_Jeweler_3191@reddit
From The Boondocks, "Gangstalicious" (S1E6):
Riley: "You mean the dude that makes family movies? That guy used to be a gangsta rapper?"
Gangstalicious: "He was so gangsta. I used to dream Ice Cube came to my house and killed my whole family, and I wanted to be like him…"
mrstorydude@reddit
>present day
>NWA
?????????????????
LarryCrabCake@reddit
God the country part is so true
So many country songs these days are so obviously just trying to check off all the boxes for country topics. Fish, beer, guns, women, truck, dog.
Every single song makes an effort to mention at least 3, meanwhile the artist lives in a highrise in Nashville and hasn't gotten dirt on his clothes since 2008.
YoIForgotMyPassAgain@reddit
Country artists dressing up like cowboys is a fun one, because it's an imitation of what was already larp. Nobody singing classic country was an honest to God cowboy, but it was an aesthetic choice that people found charming.
saketho@reddit
It’s an interesting parallel. Country mofos singing about working minimum wage and having that old truck, while living in 10 bedroom mansions.
Meanwhile today’s rappers sing about millions and bitches, but they actually have millions and bitches.
Fuckareyoulookinat@reddit
George Strait...
Barkinsons@reddit
There are still good artists out there but currently they are not hitting the mainstream. When Sturgill Simpson made a banger country album and won a Grammy, the country music industry would not even invite him to their annual convention. It's a corrupt group of producers that prefer slop over art.
cyn_foxwell@reddit
cosplaying implies they know its an act, most of them are full blown larpers
Krapio@reddit
Ya the struggle they keep up themselves
TheCommissarGeneral@reddit
The Ghetto by Two Short is my gold standard of what rap/hip hop should be. Flows nicely and talks about real struggles of day to day life in the ghetto. It has meaning.
GalaXion24@reddit
I feel like a lot of people don't really understand that these songs feature crime and gang culture because these are real things that destroy lives. It's essentially a kind of social critique.
Unfortunately many rappers also don't get that nowadays.
someity@reddit
Who's gonna tell them a lot of these dudes just say this shit bc it sells better and they never had a body count besides sex
sad_seal@reddit
Listen to rock from random 5 generic white boy bands and conclude anything with a guitar is ass
MRoad@reddit
"Oh wow i love heroin so much" is probably the rock equivalent of this post

peepers_meepers@reddit
a good portion of all 80s hair metal bands were on like 15 different kinds of drugs at the time. fucking motley crue made a song that was a tribute to strippers and another song was about a drug dealer. dont even get me started on ozzy

Yeah and at least with rap they are usually rapping about thick, mature, adult hoes

But saying white boy bands is not as basic and superficial is just...... lol.
Bad_Routes@reddit
This lame ass take could only be made in full seriousness by a r/greentext enjoyer.

disappointed by this thread not listing any good modern rappers, if you truly think like this its time to grow up and actually try stuff before making threads. listen to the any navy blue, dark times by Vince Staples, the new Jcole, or JID and go into it with a fresh mind If you guys wanna get crazy too try Boldy James or Conway the Machine, but you all aren't ready for that

Mental_Jeweler_3191@reddit
Sage Francis is a hidden gem.
Faite666@reddit
A lot of mainstream everything sucks ass. Rap, country, rock, metal, pop, EDM, all corporate controlled for the most mass appeal possible without much real substance, all with the same meaningless stories about struggles that the artists never actually experienced and heartbreak that they never felt.
cyn_foxwell@reddit
8 years is generous
everything i listened to in 2013/2014 that was "hip and cool" at the time i was sure as shit only listening to it because i was a dumb edgelord "n word funny" teen and not because it was good
because it wasnt good and if i wasnt being edgy i was mocking the inflection of the vocals
anything i do "like" from those years that i listen to from time to time is only from memes; bobby schmurda - computers because of the tom cruise whiteface vine, trap queen because of 1738 pattern recognition and trap royalty
rap from the 2010s onward feels like it literally has "lost the plot", either because the songwriting isnt genuine anymore, its low effort, or their life story is exagerated and dumbed down just to make money
im also not really focusing on the pop rap side of things because i never really listened to any of it except for a few kendrick songs, most of my takes are focused on shit like soundcloud rap and shit that blows up as a meme more than whats actually on top 40

bigmangina@reddit
Im getting old but the rap i listened to when i was younger is often full of meaning, its probably not as obvious as pop songs as they dont say everything outright, it was the only way the artists could express themselves while still appearing "thug". Not sure what rap is like nowadays.
peepers_meepers@reddit
reminds me of the people who only listened to post 9/11 bro country and proceed to say the entire country genre is bad
W1shm4ster@reddit
Some act like not most popular rap songs are literally what is in the green text and want you to search the mountain of shit for the good pebbles
LordlyTactian@reddit
Not true look at Kendrick Lamar, Gangstas paradise, J Cole so many huge rappers who don’t always go for the hedonistic stuff.
Krwawykurczak@reddit
Popular music was rather always apealing to hedonistic side of humanity and some baisc core instints.
But you can see it with other music types - punk will sing how they get drunk, reagge how they smoke, metal how they are angry, rock about sex and drugs..
But in all type of music you can find some deeper ones about struggle, daily life, work, rat race, being lost, grief, nature of humanity, history, heath issues, one will do it better, one will do it worse.
PCmasterRACE187@reddit
to have any of those takes about any of those genres is just lazy. the most popular acts like the clash, bob marley, metallica etc all have plenty of meaning if youre not searching for a reason to clutch your pearls
Bloodhoven_aka_Loner@reddit
they also have one thing in common: the songs from them that mattered, all released nigh 3 or over 3 decades ago
Krwawykurczak@reddit
I am from Poland so obvieusly am I more onto our local scene, but I am just listening to Taco Hemingway album that he released 4 months ago. The whole rap album is a sequel to what he released almost a decade ago, but it is a coplete story of a poet with broken heart, that have no other meaning in life, and pushed to become a stalker. There are few clips from her perspective as well in the album. With all those you can realy feel those emotions, some additional comemtary about current social life, mixed with old tapes.
I realy enjoy it, and it is definietly not about sex and drugs, even that this topic will be shown few times.
Bloodhoven_aka_Loner@reddit
because white suburban people EDM, especially the chart hits, is totally about love, peace and improving yourself
Mental_Jeweler_3191@reddit

Black man here. Bro aint even wrong. Racist? Probably, right this time? Yup.
AStupidFuckingHorse@reddit
I'm a black man who doesn't even like hip hop and anon is wrong. And so are you.
There's a gazillion peices of media featuring predominantly white casts and no one says this about them. Listen to the top boy bands and they're all singing about the same bullshit. No one blames school shootings, child rape, incest and literal genocides on white peoples media despite them nearly being at the top of all of those things on a global scale. But we're always so quick to jump on black media for that. Actually do some research to understand why the black community is the way it is. The answer is poverty. And then look into history to see why they're in that poverty and 9/10 times it's because a bunch of white men in suits did everything in their power to make sure that was the case. Anon isn't racist for disliking hip-hop. He's just an idiot for listening to 8 songs and using that to represent an entire genre and race of people.
