What cars have a really good sound nowadays?

Between EV’s and turbo everywhere and downsizing, it’s hard to find a car that sounds really nice, seemingly. What cars still sound really good?
To start this off, I have a coworker with a newer BMW X5 M60i. Low key, it sounds MEAN. Not super loud but louder than one would expect a luxury SUV with a turbo to be. And just a very nice sound in general.

I would definitely say any of the BMW M cars.

The current generation M2,M3,M4 sounds horrible.

Unfortunately they're muffled by the turbos. Listen to an LC500 or the new C8 Corvette to hear what a symphony should sound like

Mustangs sound great. The Shelby GT350 is in another league though.

Acura Integra Type S exhaust sounds great.

I like quiet cars. I don't like attention whoring.
Unless it's on a racetrack and at race pace, then everything sounds good to me 😂
RagingLeonard@reddit
A well tuned tasteful exhaust note is not "attention whoring". Nobody in this thread is taking about a clapped out Sentra with a fart pipe.

I love the sound on my Alfa Giulia Quadrifoglio once the valves are open

In stock form? Probably a GT350 for me.
Nothing else (at least what I can afford) really does it for me.

Im UK based so the bar to hit is probably lower. Ive got a 330i, the exhaust note is meaner at first startup and it sounds ok at full tilk. Not sure if the startup exhaust note and engine noises are the speakers or real. I drove a cupra leon current shape and it was laughably obvious it was speakers

Americans dont have same emissions standards and so anything American built for america is gonna win this in 2026

Anything with 6 or more cylinders
Saute_and_Pray@reddit
Did you mean 5? You’re excluding one of the best ones.

The silence of my EV is golden

I’m not a huge euro fan, but man an M6 or S4 sound cool.
I dont even like fords that much but a coyote has a wicked cackle.
A nice Hennessy Escalade and Z06 C8 sounded pretty good, the TRX also had a nice ring.

Yes. This and a Maserati Quattroporte. Best sound

Corvette C8 Z06. Normally aspirated with a flat plane crank.

We used to call this the Maranello symphony

AMG v8s are my favorite engine sound

Mustang coyote

my macan gts sounds enticing
Tuques@reddit
Anything v8. Extra points if there's a supercharger whine too.
Complete-Can3957@reddit
Porsche, once the valves open.
Medical-Pear@reddit
Well my 90s Trans Am has a great sound nowadays since I still drive it.
As for newer cars pretty much anything with a V8, exhaust upgrades sometimes required and sometimes not. Camaro, Corvette, CT5BW, Mustangs when they aren't crazy raspy, some Dodges, etc.
Federal-Carrot7930@reddit
Lexus LFA is one of my favorites.
For more modern cars I would say.
Audi RS3 Any turbo V8 AMGs IS500 CT5-V
No particular order.

WRX.

I prefer the blowoff noise on Turbos (mostly Porsche 911s).
Sports cars that are turbos still sound really good.

Lexus LC 500

Porsches and Bmws (with the sport package) have a bypass exhaust gate to allow 2x as much flow from the muffler. it's toggleable through the interface on newer cars.
On my 2004 BMW, the second pipe opened only once warm, which is to be nice to leaving the house in the morning.
There are many loud cars out there though; but I do suspect that as electrification happens, ice collectors and hobbyists will find the sport tunes that accentuate the engine.

This is going to be an interesting thread to read for sure. I found car sounds so subjective that it’s going to be neat what people think “sounds good”.
I’ll start with the classic flat 6 from Porsche. The sound is great inside and outside the cabin.
I’ll also note the Ford Mustang GT350 with the flat crank V8.

With or without aftermarket exhaust? I have a tuned MKZ 3.0 and it sounds rugged.

2004 Porsche 911 with Fister back boxes.

Any v8 with an exhaust system.

Love the sound of my Ct5v blackwing... Can't go wrong with a super charged v8.

Yes dude, I’d argue Cadillac makes some of the last real muscle cars around
