Mix in a Gatorade or 2 into your daily drinking routine. I just spent the last 4 months drinking nothing but energy drinks. Turns out I was a couple days away from being hospitalized for dehydration. 🤣💀 started getting alarmed when I was showing signs of a UTI. Decided to take some home time and my doctor was amazed I was so dehydrated.
gfy88@reddit
I literally can't understand how some people can do this. I drink 2 reduces and a coffee a day but water is a must.
PocketSizedRS@reddit
Bro i was like "how hot is it that water isn't enough to keep you hydrated" i was absolutely horrified when I read the body text 😭
deezkeys098@reddit (OP)
I was in the zone trying to make money🤣 didn’t concern myself with petty things like water
Lokisworkshop@reddit
Water is important but when you sweat a lot you need extra electrolites. Get a jar of pickles. Seriously. Eat a pickle or better yet, put a little pickle juice in your water bottle.
PennyFromMyAnus@reddit
Water.. bro.. JFC
OrangeSpartan@reddit
Water doesn't have electrolytes. Better than energy drinks but if you drink water while having an electrolyte problem you'll just pee it out. Actually makes the problem worse. Water helps only one form of dehydration. If you need electrolytes you'll crave water but none will absorb into your cells so you'll get more dehydrated over time. Happens with too much exercise, sunlight, some diets and some meds. I almost died once I was so thirsty I had about 7 litres in a day just pissed it all out. One gatorade later I was fixed
screamingriffin@reddit
You normally don't need additional electrolytes, if you have a healthy diet food is a great source for electrolytes.
curlyfat@reddit
Hey I had this experience! Working in the oilfield and would often be up working on and off for 24+ hours. I would often not eat and just chair water when it was hot. But I kept being weak and nauseous and more and more thirsty by the end. Then we’d hit a diner and I was back! I finally put it together and started adding those little electrolyte packets to the bottled water and boom! Problem solved.
ksgif2@reddit
Tap water is often better than bottled water. Place I lived for a long time had well water and I never got dehydrated drinking it then I moved, didn't like the taste of the water so I started buying bottled and had the same problem you did

ITS WHAT PLANTS CRAVE
nanneryeeter@reddit
Water would be a good choice.
IP_What@reddit
What? Like out of the toilet?
DeadRatRacing@reddit
Careful, water will rust your pipes!
mermaidofthelunarsea@reddit
Dad?! He always said you have to dilute it with bourbon so it wouldn't!
Environmental-Pear40@reddit
Ah, water? Never touch the stuff. Fish fuck in it.
IP_What@reddit
Sorry — obscure reference there. A toilet is the thing you piss in if you don’t have any Brawndo bottles.
afteralpha98@reddit
Go away! I’m baitin!
nanneryeeter@reddit
Is that some that that plants crave?
polarjunkie@reddit
Yes, you should see plenty of guys carrying cups into the bathrooms at truck stops with them, ask them and they'll let you use their cup.
Mistermeena@reddit
Where the fish shit?
cordelette_arete@reddit
Electrolytes and sugars are only for HIGH output consistent sweating. Just drink water, body needs water.
chaoss402@reddit
Very few truck drivers need additional electrolytes. I work in food service and don't often find myself needing to add in electrolyte drinks, and I can sweat a lot.
nuget102@reddit
If you do flatbed during the summer - definitely need to keep some liquid IV around (taste better than Gatorade imo) throwing those straps and tarps will make you sweat buckets in Texas heat.
lake_june@reddit
Things like this is why ppl think truckers are dumb
There’s no way a grown adult should have thought drinking only energy drinks for 4 months is healthy.
Round-Guarantee4948@reddit
Keep it up and Davita, DCI, or Fresenius are gonna love you.

I have found that squirting lemon into my 16 ounce refillable water bottle actually hydrate me. I don't have to go to the bathroom as much. If I drink just regular water even with a tiny bit of sea salt in it, I have to go to the bathroom every two hours. When I squeeze in a quarter of a lemon and a tiny little sprinkle of dye sea salt I don't have to go to the bathroom for 3 1/2 hours because my body is actually absorbing and using the water. It's not just going right through me. Today. And an eight hour shift I only had to use the bathroom once And today was when I squirted the most lemon into the water and I also peel the lemon off the rind and placed it in the water bottle. Just saying this is what happened to me
AndromedanPrince@reddit
lemons add alkalines which the body absorbs. i do the same thing fam
AndromedanPrince@reddit
water all day fam. and if u dont like food coloring and sugar you can make ur own sports drink.
i make an all natural sports drink using honey, sea salt, TruLemon packets, and water.
fusillijhericurl@reddit
Gatorade is meant to be drank when you sweat a lot. Lucky you didnt get kidney stones
seneeb@reddit
1 pot of coffee, and 1 gallon of water per day
DDGBuilder@reddit
I like this. Clean and concise.
Environmental-Pear40@reddit
Too much Gatorade is also bad for you. They invented this new thing called water. Pretty sure it's French but it's supposed to be super healthy for you. Maybe give it a try report back.
Bread-fi@reddit
Drink water. Gatorade is full of sodium and kidney stones suck.
Mindes13@reddit
Sodium is something you need
Frenchie1001@reddit
Just drink water, cheaper, better
Lopsided-Bath-8404@reddit
Well yeah man lol 😆

Screw energy drinks. I used to drink them when i drove in a team and i swear when i went to bed my brain would be wide awake and my eyes closed like im sleeping.
20milliondollarapi@reddit
I drink 2-3 liters of water and limit myself to a small juice or Gatorade a day. And I can still end up a bit dehydrated.
maddpsyintyst@reddit
Drink water. It's the second most important thing you need to replenish, after oxygen. Drink water to LIVE!
I used to drink seltzer water when I was trucking. You don't have to drink the same thing--for me, the fizzies fend off GERD, but I also like how raw seltzer tastes, so ignore my weird ass. Ozarka lime seltzer after a spell in the heat, though... sublime!
Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies, but A good lime seltzer also pairs well with rye!
All those colorful products are not special hacks to better biological performance. Most of any liquids you could buy at a convenience store or truck stop are sugar water dressed up with the latest trends in flavorings, additives, and implied benefits. They've been running this scam at least since the day a European guy landed in the Americas, and they'll be doing this scam long after we're extinct. Cut out the sugar water. Drink water water.

Have you tried Brawndo?
It IS the thirst mutilator, and it's what your body CRAVES.
place_of_desolation@reddit
I mix LMNT electrolyte powders in my water jug. Sugar free, good taste, and better for you. Probably the best hydrating electrolyte drink mix there is. I do like my C4 drinks, but you gotta hydrate. Target sells them if you don't want to order online.
kawirider24@reddit
Problem with these are the 1000mgs of sodium, good if you are sweating it out but if not thats alot of your daily sodium.
place_of_desolation@reddit
Oh that's true. I am doing low carb/keto so I need the extra electrolytes. I'm also in a high desert climate.
deezkeys098@reddit (OP)
Just ordered me some thanks for the advice!
tidyshark12@reddit
Gatorade has enough sugar in it as to essentially negate any positive hydration effect. If you're going for hydration, you want 0 sugar drinks (and none of that disgusting carcinogenic fake sugar, either).
Water is simply the best way 🤷♂️
DumatRising@reddit
Gatorade will hydrate, and is a good choice to replenish fluids specifically if you've been sweating a lot. The sugar content is not a huge concern as long as you stay under the DV for sugar (which for any wondering is not possible if you only drink Gatorade, unless it's the reduced or zero sugar form). Water is still better if you haven't been sweating though.
whodatyeglic@reddit
This some Idiocracy shit might as well said drink Brawnto
Born-Lie8688@reddit
Fun fact ~60% of your body is water and 0% Gatorade
Strict-Preparation-1@reddit
Kidney stones… Drinking energy drinks to be inside a truck for many hours/ or just sitting at a desk is soooo bad for you. I would understand if you have a very physical demanding job drinking an energy drink or two wont kill you. But drinking energy drinks just to sit down is diabolical. Also for every energy drink you have , drink a bottle of water right after. Your kidneys and liver will thank you.
DumatRising@reddit
An energy drink to give a little kick to finish out a long drive isn't the worst choice (compared to alternatives) but more than one is sketchy. Especially with how much caffeine are in some of them.
DumatRising@reddit
Bro just so you know your piss is supposed to be clearish not brown.
Also nothing is better for hydration than consistient water intake and 2 Gatorades a day is not sufficient hydration. It's recommend you get about 4 liters as a male (3.7 liters, 1US gallon, 128 oz) and about 3 liters as a female (2.7 liters, 0.71 gallons, 91.3 oz) daily, now some of that will come from your food and there is a bunch in other beverages but realistically you're gonna want to be drinking at least a couple litters of straight water thought the course of the day.
Also sports drinks like Gatorade aren't 100% water so you'll always have to drink more fluid if you aren't drinking straight water. So you'd actually need like 10% more Gatorade than you'd need water.
Sports drinks are designed to replenish fluids after physical activity not when dehydrated, they contain mostly water but also stuff like electrolytes that you sweat out with water when you sweat. If you're sweating Gatorade is better than water if you aren't sweating water is better than Gatorade. So if you're trying to rehydrate after like a workout then a sports drink is an excellent choice (though watch the sugar), if you're trying to reach your daily intake straight water is the best choice. Doctors may recommend other products for specific circumstances where water won't work as well as something else but those are case by case and the general advice is water.
FrYoungtrad@reddit
Yeah, my doctor told me to stop drinking so much alcohol, so I switched to wine.
