What's your favourite food/drink from another part of the UK, which kinda makes you wish you lived there?

And/or made you cry a bit when you found that it was in a certain section of Morrisons all along..
Doomergeneration@reddit
Parmo, still surprises me how regional it remains
Soldier7sixx@reddit
As a Teessider I have tried parmos all over and it's crazy how wrong they get them if you step one toe outside of the area.
I had one in Morecambe last year, apparently the guy was from Middlesbrough, and it was still shit! It should be studied.
chadgalaxy@reddit
What do they get wrong? I've had them plenty here in Leeds but no idea how 'authentic' they are as I've not had one from the north east.
Soldier7sixx@reddit
I have 0 idea. My friend and I agreed (in the case of Morecambe) that they had all the correct elements, but it was all slightly shitter somehow.
EntrepreneurFast7772@reddit
Lemon top ice cream, too. Seems to be a NE thing.
Graduated from Middlesbrough and celebrated with a parmo and a lemon top from Redcar.
Odd-Paramedic-3826@reddit
it's just an artefact of living in a very small town but I cannot for the life of me find cans of rubicon lychee locally. I lived off of it while i was at university and now it's just gone :/
linmanfu@reddit
Asda and Tesco both seem to have it on their websites so they must be selling it somewhere.
Odd-Paramedic-3826@reddit
yeah they used to sell it in the tescos around my university but my local tesco and co-op don't really sell exotic stuff. If I wanna get anything thats not a surface level brand I need to get a train somewhere else or order it online. it's a bit of a piss take really
Bitter-Comedian-1690@reddit
It’s shite now. Barrs bought the company and made all rubicon flavours terrible by taking out the sugar and replacing it with chemicals.
Odd-Paramedic-3826@reddit
Last time i had a can was just a few months ago and it tasted fine. never had an issue with sugar free drinks
BatteryAt14percent@reddit
There might be some in your local Asian supermarket or maybe even the massive Tesco extra in the world foods section. There's usually both of these type of stores near most universities
Odd-Paramedic-3826@reddit
yeah im not at university anymore lol I live in my hometown now, nearest asian supermarket is 4 miles away
BatteryAt14percent@reddit
4 miles is manageable at least
Odd-Paramedic-3826@reddit
I'm never in that end of town anyway. 8 mile walk for a can of pop just not worth it
SpectralDinosaur@reddit
Tayto crisps do the best Cheese and Onion flavour. You can get them in some shops outside of NI, but you're paying through the nose for single packets of them.
I fill the car boot with multipacks from Tesco every time I go to visit my parents.
MelodicAd2213@reddit
I’ve got them online a few times along with Irish Cadbury chocolate. I had a pack today even, they really are the best crisps.
EntrepreneurFast7772@reddit
When visited NI I stocked up on soda farls. Hard to come by in England and we don't have the different flavours.
Ok-Departments@reddit
Haggis. I know you can buy haggis in any supermarket, but it's the way it's used in so much stuff in Scotland, like in bhajis and spring rolls etc that's just never going to happen in England.
WorcsBloke@reddit
I know not everyone likes Wetherspoons, but the fact you can get breakfast rolls with haggis there is something I really miss down here in England.
VeeMon21@reddit
They used to do a haggis benedict at the spoons I worked in up there. Sadly its no longer avaliable but I'd sell my arms and legs to have it again
Evening-Tomatillo-47@reddit
Got haggis and chips last time I was in scotland. It was the same size as a battered sausage and seemed to double in weight when I ate it.
Lorne sausage isn't easy to find down here either
MelodicAd2213@reddit
Soda farls, so great when fresh from bakery and slathered with butter, yum
GlitchingGecko@reddit
Gravy at the chippy.
I hate curry sauce, but alas, I'm the wrong side of the divide.
BatteryAt14percent@reddit
Not sure where on the wrong side of the divide is but if you ever visit Wales every chippy I've ever been to (and worked in) does gravy

I'm on the border of 3 touching oranges, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire, and Bedfordshire. 😭
BatteryAt14percent@reddit
1) that is an incredibly specific map 2) that sucks and I'm so sorry you're stuck in that situation. If it helps this is what we used in chippies I worked in https://amzn.eu/d/061JCnF5

Oh nice! Thanks!

Just been up to Scotland. Made a point of enjoying: Haggis as part of a cooked breakfast (amongst other things) Empire biscuits (available in Cumbria, but haven't seen elsewhere in England) Pineapple Tarts Tatty scones Deep fried Mars Bar.
I also like getting curry half and half when I visit Merseyside- chip shop curry with half chips and half rice.
In Cumbria I liked the patties from the chip shop as well as the smoked sausages.
Pie and mash with liquor in London pie shops are a treat, too.
Rough-Chemist-4743@reddit
Joe’s ice cream in Swansea. Fortunately I can get to the Cardiff one in around 1 hour.
BatteryAt14percent@reddit
Some Tesco's in wales sell them. It's not the same though. It does if you're absolutely desperate though
WorcsBloke@reddit
Scotch pies. You have to really work to find them where I am, and even those that do exist tend to be expensive "artisan" versions. Morrisons used to do them down here in England, but these days they only seem to do so in their Scottish branches.
Spanner1993@reddit
Do yous not have Bell's down there? Not as good as fresh out a bakery but better than no pie
nevereverbelieve@reddit
Salt n sauce in chippies in Edinburgh.
