In 2005, I was working at a Škoda dealership. And one day, a client came to us in a brand-new Porsche Cayenne.

Now it’s already history.
But back then, it caused a real sensation.
They were just starting to appear on the roads, and I had only seen them from afar.
And there it was, standing right in front of me.
Real. Big. Expensive. Completely out of place for that time.
You could look at every detail, touch it, peek inside...
And the owner even let me drive it a little.
I still remember that feeling.
After the new Škodas, the Cayenne felt like a car from another dimension.
Heavy doors.
The noble smell of leather.
Real wood.
Silence inside the cabin.
And that very feeling when you realize this is no longer just a car — it’s a level of life.
And that was only the basic 3.2 version.
Later, in the 2010s, I owned several Cayennes myself.
And I always loved them.
Especially the Turbo and the GTS.
And I still consider the 957 body style the most beautiful Cayenne of all time.
It looked masculine.
Without unnecessary gloss.
Without trying to please everyone.
Wide, heavy, bold — old-school.
Today, I had the chance to drive a real time capsule.
A 2006 Cayenne Turbo S.
With only 265 kilometers on the odometer.
It’s impossible to explain this to someone who isn’t obsessed with cars.
You simply sit inside — and it feels like being transported 20 years back in time.
Back to the days when Porsche made cars with character, not presentations for marketers.
This Turbo S smells like a brand-new car from the early 2000s.
Nothing modern smells like this anymore.
The leather, the plastic, the buttons, even the air inside — as if all of it had been waiting 20 years for this exact day.
And the craziest part is that I was the one who added 5 kilometers to this time capsule.
Just 5 kilometers.
But sometimes that’s enough to feel like that guy from 2005 again — the one who sat behind the wheel of a Cayenne for the first time and realized that Porsche knows how to stay in your head forever.

Why would someone with a brand new Cayenne go to a Skoda dealership?

They also photographed it in front of a Porsche dealership, so this AI didn’t do a great job of crafting a narrative.

I had a 2005 Cayenne twin turbo and it was a lemon. Terrible quality, was very disappointing. Skoda may have been better.
