Okay, I'll give you the 5 1/4" floppy... But putting the CD-rom in... Cold man, cold.
PirateWheeler40@reddit
F*ck you, "old timey." Back in the day, restaurant franchises had respect. They wore a belt and tucked in their shirt tails while staying off my lawn and listening to their music at a reasonable volume. I guess I'll go to Cracker Barrel...I belong there now...
ButterscotchAware402@reddit (OP)
I'll meet you at the rocking chairs after I finish my chicken fried steak, fellow old timer š¤š»

OK, but I'm the RED checkers this time.

I mean arenāt we the ones paying for that childās food. The waffler is always open and thereās usually a free Jerry springer show too.
Immorpher@reddit
Haha as a Xennial too I find this funny. Too bad dial up modem sounds don't have a good visual demonstration! Could have put some NES carts on there. Maybe some pay phones!
Dyolf_Knip@reddit
I bought an nes emulator that came with every nes game ever. But the one my kids love most is the OG Mario Bros.

IHOP is an old timey thing from my youth. Take that IHOP!

And they're dying about as fast as elder GenX
CatManDo206@reddit
Gen x is dying?
sarabeara12345678910@reddit
The older ones are pushing 70, so yeah.
CatManDo206@reddit
Did not realize gen x include 70 thought that's babyboomers
sarabeara12345678910@reddit
Baby-boomers are in their 70s and 80s. Gen x is in their 50s to 60s. So, older Gen x is nearing 70
FreddyNoodles@reddit
āOfficiallyā Gen X. 46. No. We arenāt 70, my dad is 74 or so. Wth.
Gian_Luck_Pickerd@reddit
Gen X is 1965-1980/81. The first Gen X are 60/61 now
Free-Cherry-4254@reddit
Gen X is "officially 1965-1980, so the oldest Gen Xers are in their early 60s, not near 70

This is like a yo mama joke, at least we can laugh about it and not be offended like the rest of the snow flake generations

I bet the person that designed this IHOP kids thing is a member of this Reddit sub!
Interesting-Hawk-744@reddit
It's lowkey funny AF tho. The VHS label is egregious tho. That tape could be Dazed and Confused or even a Cheech and Chong man. I'm so pissed I don't have my old VHS tapes now that weed is legal
throwawayhbgtop81@reddit
Memory of my grandma taking us to IHOP though as a treat. There used to be one in Rittenhouse Square of all places. Completely at odds with that rich ass neighborhood.
throwawayhbgtop81@reddit

I know right? I remember waiting 5 or 6 minutes for a picture to load. And then there were the hours I put in waiting for a 3 minute song to download on Napster. Only for my dad to tell me he needed to use the phone when it was at 98%. Nooooo!!
Much_Ad470@reddit
Starbreiz@reddit
lol wow. "I remember when the internet was invented" is almost exactly how someone just mocked me on another sub.
I got downvoted to hell on another sub for being frustrated that a lot of companies are moving to phone only apps and removing functionality from their websites.
ladyxsuebee311@reddit
I don't understand why everyone doesnt hate this. I'm not downloading someone's stupid app if I want to look at something or make a single purchase. I have too many apps as it is, my phone pulls permissions left and right from them because there are so many I hardly get use out of.
AquariusRising1983@reddit
Oh my god yes! I fucking hate this trend that I need to have an app for things I don't use often enough to warrant having an app. No, I don't want an app for my appliances, either. This is something my boomer mom and I Re in perfect accord about lol.
tribbleorlfl@reddit
It's pretty funny, though I would say technically, "old timey" has referred to things two or more generations in the past, not one. And most crossing guards are retirees, so I think some of these things might be a bit later than they should be for an "old timey artifact.". Records and 8 tracks ya, CD roms and cell phones not so much.
AlarmedRaccoon619@reddit
Assuming that the children's menu coloring book is catering to Gen Alpha, then going two generations back does indeed put one in the realm of Millennials, CD ROMs, and cell phones. Just sayin
Occams_AK47@reddit
I remember when people actually went to IHOP.

Thatās pretty funny. Back in my day we would all gather around the radio and listen to Motley CruĆ«. We didnāt have fancy Spotify. If we wanted to hear Kickstart My Heart, we would either have to wait for it, or drive to a music store to purchase a full album of songs.
bakedinsandiego@reddit
I had to take the subway from west bumblefuck brooklyn for two hours to st markās place in manhattan to find vinyl and pray my parents never found out š
Workamania@reddit
I used to live a few blocks from St. Marks 30 years ago. I was very lucky in that regard. All the heroin and whores in the area wasn't so great. Bleecker Bob's was not worth the schlep.
bakedinsandiego@reddit
It was better than whatever Mill Basin had to offer in 1997 for sure.
AlekThunder88@reddit
Ok Boomer
PackageNorth8984@reddit
Was it uphill both ways, in the snow, to and from the store?
Sorry_Im_Trying@reddit
Funny story, I just had to explain to my 10 year old what an album was.
Cause all his music is just online....

Hard to take anything seriously from a company that temporarily changed their name to "IHOB" to announce that they'd started selling hamburgers like anyone is crazy enough to buy a burger from a fucking pancake restaurant.

Boring Old Movie certainly sounds a lot like the movies we watched, like Scary Movie or Not Another Teen Movie.

My first thought wasn't that this was hating on GenX/Xennials. My thought was that this was made by a GenXer or Xennial, poking fun at themselves. I could totally see myself coming up with something like this if I was tasked with designing a coloring book game for children, quietly laughing under my own breath the whole time I was working on it.
