From 1878 to 1918, Ada Kaleh Island, was occupied by Austria-Hungary. Subsequently—until 1923—it was a No mans land; however, in 1923, the Turkish island's inhabitants voted to join Romania. On May 4, 1931, they received a visit from the Romanian King Carol II; from that point until 1947, it remained an autonomous territory—governed until 1945 by Ali Kadri Bey Efendi, He was the wealthiest man on the island; the cigar factory there belonged to him.

In 1945, he—along with his immediate family, relatives and the island's elite—fled to Turkey.

No, if you look the painting of Mehmed II, they should taken a Type with a long nose and more white skinned. Ottoman sultans didnt had the Look of rural turks. Look their mothers, century long allways balkan and caucasus mountains.

I find it astonishing—no, actually, it doesn't surprise me at all—that my comment is being downvoted; but who is in the right? Anyone can Google it; anyone can look up the portraits of the sultans—particularly those of Fatih Sultan Mehmed Han and Suleiman the Magnificent—and, above all, take a look at the photographs of the sultans, or of the last Caliph, Abdülmecid II. None of the actors even remotely resemble them in terms of physical type. And yes, the sultans were fair-complexioned—with the exception of Abdülhamid II, though even he possessed that large, aquiline nose. The "Ottoman Sultan's nose" was a trademark feature; even the princesses had it. So, why the downvotes?
