What kind of gun is it?
Translation of the news article
On February 1, the Dongchangfu Branch of the Liaocheng Municipal Public Security Bureau launched a coordinated operation involving multiple police units. With strong support from relevant departments of the Liaocheng Public Security Bureau, officers used video analysis, on the site inspection, DNA testing and identification, forensic examination, trail analysis, stakeouts, and other investigative methods to swiftly solve an intentional homicide case. The suspect, surnamed Wang, who had fled to an area near Jinan Railway Station and was preparing to escape, was arrested.

Several police departments in regions known with high violent crime and separatist activities (I.e Xinjiang) have been issued Glock 17s in large scales since I believed late 2017. Other regions in various degrees.

I don’t know if they use GLOCKs but probably nothing to do with Hong Kong, MainlandChina cannot buy guns from HK directly because of one country two system policy

Nope, Europe had imposed arms embargo against PRC China since Tiananmen in 1989, there’s literally no chance they could just place an order with Glock company in Austria without catching the attention of some leering eyes.
And again nope, no sane person on this planet would take the whole “one country two systems” nonsense seriously, Hong Kong had long known been the hub of smuggling of sensitive / sanctioned materials to mainland China. One example being after the whole fiasco of 1989 and the ensuing sanction against export of military and LE technology to China, many of the PLA’s 20 some Sikorsky S-70s (civilian Blackhawk) from the batch purchased in 1983 were only able to remain airworthy au grace to parts and components secretly diverged from several orders in the name of Hong Kong GFS in the 2000s. (The US state department eventually found out after observing inconsistent patterns in these aircraft’s activities via underground channels and shut down further deliveries).
If much more sensitive aircraft parts can be smuggled in, I doubt a couple hundred Glock pistols can not when the gov is more than happy to turn a blind eye.

Based on the available records, GLOCK pistols are frequently displayed at the China International Exhibition on Police Equipment (CIEPE) in Beijing, which is China’s largest and most authoritative police and anti-terrorism technology event.
The 12th China International Exhibition on Police Equipment was held in Beijing on May 14–17, 2025, at Shougang Park, and Xinhua and the Beijing government both describe it as a major police-technology expo with advanced law-enforcement equipment on show.

Both of you are kinda right, the Xinjiang division of the Peoples Armed Police and local police branches were known to have smuggled in foreign weapons during the QSZ-92 debacle, there are two ways that these weapons could have made it into China, via Macau, which China has much better control over, and via Israel, which has been known to deal arms to China over the years. A crate or dozen of glocks and Mp5s are small fish compared to other hardware.

There is a Norinco Glock clone out there
BobbleNtheFREDs@reddit

It's probably just a Glock
wynnduffyisking@reddit
Maybe it’s a Glock?
Natural_Youth_5941@reddit
Chinese Glock? So a clock a say
Global_Theme864@reddit
Looks like a Glock to me. Norinco did make a Glock clone at one point but I don’t think
It lasted in production long so I suspect this is an actual Glock.
