Riddle me this, does tint make it warmer, or colder inside?

Riddle me this: If it made the car hotter, why would so many cars in hot regions have it?

Good ceramic tint can make a real difference. The dark look is only part of it.

True and like u/SenhorSus said, they have a variety of colors, anywhere between clear and limo tint darkness, so you're not stuck on a darkness level by definition. The 30% Huper Optik tint was perfect for me (it gauges at 30% light transmission).

The only tint that has any real effect on temps is ceramic tint that blocks infra red rays.

And after having a few cars with Huper Optik tint I can say, that ceramic film traps heat and radiates it like it's hot to the touch, but nothing else is in the car if you block the windshield. Having hot glass kinda sucks but it's better than having your seat melt your legs in the summer. Then in the winter, when you want some sun heat, you don't get it because the ceramic is doing its job of soaking up infrared.
I've seen some people stick with the factory tint on the rear windows and leave the fronts clear. Sometimes it's preference, sometimes it's state law. But I could do either after living with this arrangement for a few years. Ventilated/cooled seats are the business.

Colder. Black absorbs heat more than lighter colors, but it blocks the sun from entering the cabin in the first place. Clear windows allow the sun rays to pass into the interior, which will become the point of absorption. This will heat the cabin faster than exterior absorption.

It's not about the darkness, it's about the UV blocking tints. There are both clear and dark UV blocking tints, both will make your car much cooler in the sun

Me when I don't bother trying to understand things, but I'm just curious enough
