What piece is this?

Hello sailing friends! My husband and I are newbies with our first sailboat. We noticed this morning this piece is broken on our boom. What it is and how would we fix/replace it?
TIA

Find some one with a CNC mill and have them fabricate one for you if you can’t buy a replacement at a reasonable price.

Looks like you have an isomat boom. You have broken the goose neck. It is an old model but you can still buy parts for those booms at rigrite.com.
Just measure the dimensions of the boom and you will find the part. It will be NB- followed by a number.

You can try fix that one or buy a new gooseneck assembly from rig rite. You could put a newer version on there too. Will have to change the gooseneck arrangement on the mast too however if you get an updated version.

I would warn people isomat has stuff in their website they don't stock or can't easily get and they'll dick you around either until they get it or indefinitely.
id recommend calling or emailing before ordering if they answer. I've personally not had issues, but have had friends say it took 3 months to get their order.

Thanks for the heads up. I’d be damned if I paid $700 before taxes just to get it next season smh

I realized I wrote isomat instead of rigrite, so I am sorry I messes up.

Rig rite still hasn't shipped my order from four years ago. I quit calling after six months.

Yeah, that's rig-rite for you.

When my idiot brother broke my gooseneck, I went on quite the wild goose chase. Ultimately I found a local aluminum foundry who were able to make a simple mold from the broken parts, and cast a new one.

Thats a doohickey

Looks to be the part that attaches your boom to your mast.
You can only replace this so contact a ship repair shop nearby

I believe it’s called a gooseneck assembly; there’s often a metal rod that goes through the tack of your main (sitting in between the two black circles) and locks in on the other side helping hold the sail in place.

That is a cast alloy gooseneck fitting, repairing is not a viable option, its basically a case of replace with an isomat part or have a fabrication shop make something up.
If you have a fabrication shop make something out of stainless (not less than 316) be aware of the effects of galvanic corrosion between the boom and fitting and make sure you mitigate them.
Best option, buy a replacement isomat part, but thats me.

It could be this one.

Gooseneck,
Get some measurements of the boom section with as many photos as posible, then contact all your local rigging shops. If they can id the boom section they may be able to get a replacement part. Otherwise they may be able to fabricate a new one.
