Best use case for ebike: pulling a trailer

I did this everyday for 2-years. This was around 2022. My trailer contained my 2 children. To and from school. Their total combined weight towards the end of the last year was \~120lbs (20lbs heavier than the trailer's rating). I also had a rear basket (not shown) where I usually put their backpacks in.
We really enjoyed this time of our lives, and is definitely "core memory."
Bike was a generic hard-tail, mountain bike style. Aluminum frame. It had nice, "entry-level" components. 10spd Deore, Tektro hydraulic discs, Bafang mid-drive M600 + 48amp hr battery that can sustain continuous 750W power (beast!), and I had the 32kph speed limiter removed (maxed at \~50kph because of the small 1x crank). If I remember correctly, the bike was a hefty 65 or 70lbs.

My first cargo bike was the Free Radical kit from Xtracycle. I used it to take my daughter to and from school for 5 years, sometimes with her friend too. That daughter is now 20 years old. We adopted a baby and I'm old so I upgraded to a Xtracycle Edgerunner and added a BBS02 since that boy is now 6 years old, 4'6" and 135 pounds!! Adding the eAssist was a good idea lol

I had trailer before . But honestly side bike is a better option .
I carry my daughter everyday to school and i feel like it's a more securised option .
Yes it cost much , but when it come to daughter Security there is no limit to me .
Also seeing their smile is a win win situation

This is a proper "tricycle", and I wonder why it is less common especially in big cities; it is THE most efficient shape of city commute, bar none.
Look up "philippine tricycle" or "philippine pedicab"

It’s less common because bike lanes are not wide enough to allow safe use with a sidecar! All it would take to destroy a good day is one car door to open as your about to pass and the sidecar and any rider is history.

it is called side car in France.
It was invented Jean Bertoux in 1892 and he still have plenty in France (but not like Asia )
After WW2 , it was too expensive too buy a car , so most people like to use sidecar .

The addition of electric motor assist to cycling is one of the great innovations of this century. It just makes bicycles so much more practical for daily life. Steep hills are effectively flattened. Heavy loads are lightened. My favourite moment this weekend was hearing two children in the front of a box bike hooting just to hear their echo as they went through an underpass on their way to the park.

After hauling around my daughter in the kid trailer with a regular push bike for hundreds of miles even up hills, I would have to agree. Ebike is the way to go, I do it on my cargo ebike now and I don't even really need the trailer though since the bike now has a built-in bench in the back, but I can certainly attach the trailer for even more cargo capacity.
