How different was your country 20 years ago and how do you think it will be 20 years from now?

How have things changed for your country in the last 20 years? It can be culturally, politically, infrastructure and safety wise etc. Will you still be able to recognize your country after the next 20?

20 years ago we were one year away from EU accesion. The net(take home) average wage nationally was 236EUR at 2006 exchange rates, today it is closely approaching 1200EUR/month net pay. It might not sound like a lot when compared to major european economies but we've made improvements we couldn't even imagine or dream about 20 years ago. At that time we only had 1 stretch of about 100km of motorway in the entire country, today theres aprox 1500km and multiple ongoing infrastructure projects.
So, even though there's still a lot of work to be done, it's nice to acknowledge and appreciate that we've really come a long way. I can't imagine what the next 20 years will be like, I hope we'll keep making progress!
