The OP not replying makes it funnier

Replying you because you are so special ✨. Now let me get some popcorn 🍿 and watch the show.

A lot of people have no clue what bloated means. Besides that point, does anyone know if Microsoft is contributing back to Fedora in any way?
gordonmessmer@reddit
Why do you think it's bloated?
Neptune-Apple@reddit (OP)
Cause it's made by microslop 😂
ReptilianLaserbeam@reddit
Oh dear how old are you, 12?
gordonmessmer@reddit
So, baseless accusations? Do you think that's helpful?
ReptilianLaserbeam@reddit
Uh? Isn't this the same as Ubuntu for Azure which has its own kernel? How is that bloated? This is intended for server use not for end users....
Creative_Bedroom_448@reddit
Honestly feels like every big company eventually tries to reinvent Linux and ends up shipping “Fedora but heavier” with extra telemetry and branding slapped on top lol.
Fresh-Toilet-Soup@reddit
Is this the OS that runs virtualization infrastructure, or is this an OS for customers to host services on?
b3081a@reddit
The latter. Microsoft is still using their own virtualization stack (customized Hyper-V) for Azure at the moment, though they've done some experiences to use Linux as dom0 (management OS) before. Yet they've not switched virtualization infrastructure to Linux as of now.
Lower-Limit3695@reddit
It's a cloud spin for their infrastructure. You can look at it's technical implementation, it's a stripped down hardened version of fedora made immutable and lightweight for cloud workloads specifically containers.
This is far lighter and smaller than your typical ms product.
arkham1010@reddit
What distro is AWSLinux based on?
gordonmessmer@reddit
Amazon Linux 2023 is also derived from Fedora
_jimmythebear_@reddit
Whats bloated about it... Cause it has MS name on it? It does what they want it to.
mystichead@reddit
Oh dear... This is such a dumbass take. It's not bloated. It exists for Azure. In the name.
Previously they had made from scratch, now it's a customized Fedora. Which makes sense as many distros for special purposes are basically Fedora based

Jeezuz
ElnuDev@reddit
It's for Azure cloud server use.
