How do schools pay companies and how do company’s pay their employees?

(Im not complaining nor ranting just honestly real curious) I deliver food in a smaller semi. Still cdl A.
I work for a company and we deliver food products to public schools. How do schools pay them? Does my company charge them per hour or a contract? (When I used to do labor work they would charge the client example 90 dollars a hour per worker, but pay the worker their wage. 18-20 a hour etc)
I’m genuinely curious how it works out with the schools. Do they add up all the driver hours at the end of the year then charge the schools? Does the state pay my company?

Most likely it's a set contract that likely comes in a lump sum or divided into more payments throughout the length of the contract period.

Is the delivery cost lumped in with the purchase of the food?
What's on your BoL?

It just shows the product price. When I click the total. It’s just the total of all the food together. I get payed hourly.
(Just asking because I’ve been doing it for years and I’m just curious. No hate nor mad, I like my job and what they pay me. But when driving it’s just something that always comes to my head at random times.)
