Talk to me about your Dallas water bill.

Since the city switched to the new payment platform, I've been hearing from irritated people. If you've tried to pay your bill, tell me about it. I'll try to get the city to answer some questions.

The website says that no late fees will be charged for the transition period. Is the transition period May 1-17 like they listed in some places on the website or is it while everyone is signing up with the new system in the next month or so? It doesn't seem fair that they're charging a convenience fee for the first ACH payment before autopay kicks in.
I tried calling 5 times but the automated system dropped my call each and every time. I don't know how to get my question answered. The old system worked well - if it ain't broke, don't fix it! Thanks for trying to help!

How do you even setup autopay

On the mobile web site, i believe i had to enter a payment method first, then go to the main page, then scroll to the bottom to find the option to enable it

I was able to register yesterday so think I am ok. Many are struggling though and no idea why there was a change. Was t there one a few years ago? No one I know has received their activation code and urs not clear that you can still register if you have old account number and you had either SSN or DL in old system. I am planning on using bank bill pay to avoid the shameful fee on ACH.

Still waiting for my snail/email authentication code. Social didn't work. DL did. Fortunately my account number was in some emails because I haven't had paper bills for years.
There's still some confusion out here about the payment fee--I know it's only checks on auto pay, but...there's a lot of folks upset about the fee on a single check.
All in all a much smoother experience than the living hell of signing up with some of our fly by night electric companies. Looking at you, Tara.

It was botched roll out. Plain and simple.

It felt a bit cumbersome to get everything set up. It's hardly the most esoteric software out there (anyone who's worked with SAP or Oracle has seen what true horror looks like), but damn, it would've been nice to have a sort of step-by-step "welcome to the new system, let's get you set up" thing upon logging in. Instead you just have to scroll and scroll and poke and prod, which is fine for me but probably more frustrating for others. It also wasn't clear how to enable AutoPay.
Finally, the cash grab for processing fees on electronic payments is lame. At the very least they shouldn't charge for eCheck/ACH payments, whether they're on AutoPay or manual payment.
