Aventon Aventure 3 vs Giant Roam E+GTS

So I’m wondering what the consensus opinion will be on which of these bikes to buy. You can get the Aventure 3 for $1,800 brand new right now vs a marketplace listing for a year old Giant Roam that looks to be in excellent condition for $1,200. What do you guys think?

How many miles on the Giant and why are they selling? Bikes with 300 miles are worth considering, bikes with 8000 are less valuable.

It’s an old guy that posted it, said it didn’t get ridden much and that’s why he’s getting rid of it. I’m looking at the gears and frame and everything and the bike looks impeccable, so I imagine he’s being honest in that it wasn’t used much. He said he bought it from a local bike shop and has all the paperwork.

Thats a big plus in its favor.

Giant is 50lbs, aventon is 75lbs. Good luck finding a service center for aventon. A no brainer from me.

The issue with the used ebike is that the battery may not have much life left. If you need to replace the battery, that's another $500 the used bike will cost you. Factor that into your decision. With the Aventon, you're getting not only a new bike but a warranty as well. The Giant is a nice bike but it is under powered compared to the Adventure 3. The Giant has a max torque of 50Nm, the Adventure has 80Nm. The Giant is a class bike. The Adventure is a class 2 and can be switched to class 3. Honestly, I think the Adventure is the better deal. All of the extras more than make up for the price difference and it's new vs used.

Great points, thank you. Do you think longevity of the bike/ability to have it easily worked on by a local shop factors into this at all?
