I miss pretentious local music, book, and video stores where I would swoon over the long-haired guys who worked there.

Time didn't exist when I was entranced by shelves and shelves of enticing titles and cover art.

I used to work night shift on a crisis line for women experiencing or who have experienced violence and other forms of abuse, at any time in their lives. Overnights were often quiet and I worked those shifts alone.
There was a very well known alternative video store here in Toronto called Suspect Video. The one location was around the corner from my workplace and I went in before every shift to pick up some movies to watch, otherwise the 9 hours felt like 90.
There was this one fella who worked there who was just *swoon* I would hang around a bit longer than usual if he was working, before getting back on my bike for a long night shift.

When we were dating, back in the eighties, my husband used to take me to his favorite indy music store. He was a young metal head and would request special orders from European bands found in Metal Forces magazine.
The owner would order 2 copies, one for him and one to put on the shelf, and they'd talk about what was good or not. I would shop for edgy buttons to put on my jeans jacket.
Good times!

They probably exist somewhere, but they’re bald and smell of weed and depends

Same here except in reverse. I swear to this day there's nothing sexier than an eighties girl with her hair all puffed up with that subtle feathered back look and make-up that only eighties girls knew how to apply. Nothing has come close since.
