Should I go the O/O route?

Been driving for over a year now. I’m a transportation manager and all signs of the current company I’m at are not looking good. They are thinking of layoffs, vendors not getting paid, etc. I received my X endorsement just in case as backup. I have no experience with hazmat/tanker but I see all of the signs of that route being good pay for Owner operators. I know a small company that could help me train for a little bit to get my feet wet. But I’m on the fence and my anxiety is high everyday with the uncertainty. Is it worth it? Is anyone looking for a team type gig? Am I wasting my time? I need some advice.

I'd say take that opportunity to try out running tanker for sure. You would need a lot more experience in it than just some training though before considering it as an owner op imo.

o/o can be good money but it’s stress and risk 24/7, especially year 1 and with hazmat you don’t know yet. if you can, get on with that small outfit as a company driver, learn the freight first. layoffs everywhere now, finding solid worK is rough
