better to flush money down the toilet...

If you needed it, you would already know. If your programs haven't crashed from insufficient RAM, then you don't need more. You won't get a performance boost from a larger RAM kit, you would only get a performance boost if the clock speeds on that RAM kit are faster than the clock speeds on your current kit

Is your net worth 8 figures?
Gutter_Flies@reddit
Lol no. I bought two full computers, both of which are capable of your tasks, for less than that within the last month.

"Deal"
Dude. I got my 64GB kit for $200 before the RAM shortage. If you don't absolutely need it, wait until prices return to some degree of normality. This is not a deal.

yeah, ram used to be a relatively cheap component of the pc, if you wanted more sure why not. I got 64gb a year ago for exactly $196 and I couldnt be happier

Why would you need 64gb?
Born-Cow5694@reddit (OP)
idk i thought more was better. I'm using it for gaming and steaming
webjunk1e@reddit
No. You need "enough" RAM, whatever that threshold is for the tasks you do. Having more than you need is a complete waste of money with no benefit whatsoever. For gaming and streaming 32GB is more than sufficient. Even 16GB is still serviceable for that purpose, though getting tight. I have 64GB, but that's because I'm a developer that works with VMs and containers.

Bam dropped 83 points ...
Random_Sime@reddit
You steaming hams?
PenFar9334@reddit
You don't really need that much man unless you're using it for work things like rendering,ai, servers etc. if it's just games and streams 32gb should be more than enough
AceLamina@reddit
If you don't know, you won't need it
Ghost1eToast1es@reddit
No! Absolutely terrible idea! Why would you buy an upgrade on RAM you don’t need during a RAM shortage? You aren’t future proofing, you’re spending a ton more than you would by buying it in the future.
Sea_Art_6548@reddit
What are you using the pc for
Born-Cow5694@reddit (OP)
gaming and steaming
switzer3@reddit
Any heavy editing(tons and tons of effects)? If not then 32gb wil be more than enough already
Toast_Meat@reddit
If you don't know if you actually need it, you shouldn't spend money...
... especially today. Are you not ware that $650 is absolutely nuts?
Fragluton@reddit
Being a deal doesn't mean it's a good deal for you. Sounds like you are already sorted, no idea what you use the system for but 32GB is enough for most.
